    she put kelly on the song intentionally to be provocative and make a statement about how much access the public has to the lives of celebrities, and the music video had so many rape-y undertones that her label refused to let it come out even though the song was blowing up around that time. she definitely knew and played into kelly's reputation to cause controversy and polarize people. the only reason she eventually went back on it was to not jeopardize her oscar chances because the HBO documentary was airing around the same time and a lot of eyes were on her.

    not that i'm necessarily judging her, she was going through a very public mental breakdown in the public eye during the artpop era and made a lot of weird questionable artistic decisions, but her featuring kelly was not an accidental move, it was very much designed to shock people.
