I think she'll do really good in this. I'm part of the ones that didn't read the books and decided I'll wait for the mysterys to be revealed before I do.

Looks like Reeves won the battle for Fraser

I’m probably overthinking. It’s only us film nerds who pay attention to that stuff at the end of the day

even though it’s the last film in the “trilogy” it’s still technically a different book that’s being adapted. also la la land’s cinematography is 11/10

True it being a different book could be a good reason to switch up the look
And yeah he also did Babylon + Saltburn which both looked great

Yeah I think the switch up will work being Denis keeps stressing this isn’t a trilogy and it’s it’s own movie

True this one is called Messiah not Part 3

Villeneuve did say that he wanted Messiah to be its own thing so it all worked out for the best.

My God I’m winning in both cases
Wouldn't be surprised if Frasier wasn't necessarily automatic for this. Messiah (at least the book) is a new direction for the series and won't have a lot of the elements the first two did. Its a very different story and even Arrakis is very very different. Denis having a new DP makes sense and Sandgren is amazing anyways.
Nothing after Messiah is worth adapting imo. Children is borderline but I still feel like you run a big risk of alienating a lot of people and souring them on the movies as a whole.
So is she supposed to play a 12 yo? Been wondering how they gonna approach that..

The books turn bad? I’m already hearing Messiah suppose to be completely different from what Dune 1 and 2

Bad is a matter of opinion. Real Dune heads laud Messiah and praise others within the series, whereas others in the general population think that everything after the first book kinda sucks.
The bigger issue is that, at least in my opinion, the books literally become increasingly unadaptable the longer they go on. Without spoiling, there’s a lot of moving parts and characters, much of what we’ve come to know… goes away for a whole bunch of reasons, weird plot points, AND VERY VERY H****! Chunks of Heretics is borderline furry erotica.
I think all the books are worth reading, but I just don’t see what a general audience would get out of a Dune movie post-Messiah.

Yeah some of the later stuff is basically unadaptable to begin with, but then factor in that they wanna do these as PG-13 blockbusters and it's like there's just no way.
Messiah is more of a 200 page stepping stone to the next book than it is a grand end or stopping point imo so I’m for continuing. Doing Children of Dune wouldn’t even be its first adaptation either. It has a 2003 miniseries which combined Messiah and that. If a low budget series can try so can WB lol
Finding the right creative team will be hard but also a concern for later. Not entirely concerned about audiences either esp if Messiah is a success
