trying not to get my anticipation up but this has to be a classic
MAJOR BOOK SPOILERS speculating on how it's adapted
i wonder what brings chani back to paul.. maybe she becomes the voice of reason during or after the holy wars. sheās gotta end up near him again somehow for the twins to happen. he might seed the pregnancy early on, but i think heāll save her tragic fate for the end. messiah doesnāt have a ton of action outside of paul going blind and the ending with leto ii, so i wouldnāt be surprised if denis adds holy war flashbacks. the grand scale of the war is mentioned in the book, he could use those descriptions to build out those scenes, maybe even show paul doing or defending brutal war crimes in the name of peace. the dangers of hero worship and the decline of arrakis wonāt be enough on their own, i donāt think. adding that kind of violence would give the story more weight and make his downfall hit harder without leaning on hitler comparisons. curious how heāll handle it all.
he was asked about adding more action to messiah and said, "there are descriptions about battles that happen in vague terms after the fact between two people in the dune books, and you have to dig into those descriptions to get the rich cinematic material. we will have the same approach around dune messiah.ā which to me confirms what i was saying above.
Children & God Emperor are definitely adaptable but Children especially is an uphill battle that would take many elements being re-arranged or changed carefully and I don't have faith in whoever they get honestly.
Children feels like a bit of a fever dream at times.

i feel like he'll make the ending a full-blown tragedy. chani dies giving birth. paul loses his eyes, then his vision he had through his powers when she dies. it will be despair. and if denis spends part three building chani up as his last link to anything human. his love, his peace, the life he never got, then her death is the death blow. the twins live, the empire rolls on, the religion becomes unstoppable... but paul is already gone. no big speech. just silence, symbolism, and grief.
final scene, paul walking into the desert, alone, blind, defeated and steady, same way he once walked out of it as the messiah.

Reading this thereās really no way of f***ing this up. Itās all right there in the text. Messiah is just insanely good. Do wonder how heāll keep some action in there for the GA

yeah messiah is a great story, some find it boring cause it's less of a heroes journey and more of a tragedy but i think that's why it would work so beautifully as the final act of a trilogy. if it's handled well and i have faith in denis.
the action thing is kind of what i was talking about in the first post
i think heāll use the action to show how far gone paul really is, instead of just having him sit around saying āiāve killed so many people in my name... iām worse than hitler.ā weāll actually see the horror, paul doing or allowing unspeakable things. that way, we make the connection ourselves without it being spelled out. it adds a ton of weight and gives room for big, brutal moments, even if theyāre just flashbacks. it should be around 12 years later anyway, maybe more depending on how old anyaās playing alia.
i could be wrong just speculating but i love frank and denis, big fans of both so i think i have a sense of how he might adapt it after seeing part 2.
Yeah for sure. I tapped out after God Emperor, that was about all I could take
Just finished heretics and ā¦ā¦ ā¦. Lol
Gonna knock our chapter house but I get the perception the series gradually declines in quality. New characters are nothing compared to original book>children
yeah im fully expecting Dune to switch dates now which personally sucks for me as it was gonna release on my birthday!! BOO!
no chance they don't move the date. Kinda hoping for a push up and not back.
Sucks cause if they stay 2026, Oscar comp gonna be tough vs Nolan and so many others but if they push back, how far are they gonna push it back? Another March release that will hurt it's awards chances just like it did for part two?
Heās really replicating Oppenheimer beat for beat now, we can guarantee RDJ will be Tony Stark vs Doom, add MBJ in Sinners to the likelihood of this happening as well

Doomsday is gonna suck
