Olivia Williams and Jodhi May have been cast in Max’s “Dune: The Sisterhood” (working title) following the exits of previously announced cast members Shirley Henderson and Indira Varma. Henderson departed the series amid “creative changes” made in February, while Varma’s departure was due to scheduling conflicts.

Additionally, Anna Foerster is now set as a director on the series, replacing Johan Renck, who departed at the same time as Henderson.

They all look like some weird cult members which is great for this series

I’m wholly against the unnecessary expansion of franchises that are already (or on their way to being) staples…

MCU tv shows are mostly failures or mid at best. Star Wars is a f***ing mess. What’s next?

We don’t need this to be watered down. This Dune is what it is because of Denis, and without him I’m not sure what we’ll even be watching.

Dune has already been unnecessarily expanded.

One could argue Herbert did it with the final few books, and if he didn’t, his son certainly did. He turns them out almost yearly, each one more unreadable than the last.

Not to mention the comics, the awful mini-series’… there’s already so much horrible in the franchise. At worst this will still stand head and shoulders above everything besides the Denis films since Herbert died.

Fair— I honestly didn’t pay much attention to Dune since Denis, so my exposure is limited. As I’m sure it is for millions of new fans who’ve only experienced the latest film. Call it a new generation of fans.

Never read! But definitely interested now.

I'm like brand new to Dune -- I just watched the 1984 movie a couple months ago. But I'm like... head over heels obsessed with Denis'. I've watched it in full probably 25-30 times. I'll tackle the books someday.

Fair enough I def recommend reading at least the first 3 if you get a chance! (I stopped midway through the fifth but have been meaning to reread)

Ig my mail. point is I think if done justice, this show could be a really good companion to the movie and the dune franchise universe. also potentially sets a precedent to see if there's enough interest in more of the unexplored stories from the first book alone that could have their own limited run mini series' (so much was left on the cutting room floor for the first movie)

If there's one franchise/universe I see worthy of being milked for og cinematic content it's dune tbh

Also in some ways I don't think it's entirely fair to compare it to MCU, I'd say it's closer to the starwars stuff like mandalorian? I also think max has done a good job with sci Fi stuff from and EU previously (raised by Wolves was really good imo) but yeah I the tldr of this is my polite/non snobby way of saying that without reading the books it's understandable to feel the way you feel

Hope this doesn't come off passive aggressive, just trying to give my perspective :)

I mean the sons books suck yeah, and I can't speak for Frank's final books, but this could be really good. Keeping my hopes tempered but high

My post wasn’t meant to deride this show, I’m looking forward to it. I was just pointing out that it’s probably a bit too late to worry about Dune expanding into a bunch of unnecessary slop.

not at all my man. mad respect for being peaceful and thoughtful in your response lol

I will def check the books out in time. in my extremely limited knowledge of the dune world, I should remain open minded and search out more content. I'm talking s*** like I won't 100% be watching this the second it drops, lol.
