Reaching for mainstream a bit much for my liking but it’s still cool. The final five tracks>
dvsn is making the best music out of OVO

  • La Flame

3 classics... and they only getting better

    Real

  • Apr 18, 2020

this is def their most mainstream project which is not necessarily a bad thing because they do mainstream sound well. Features don't take too much away from the songs which I was worried about so im happy about that (still don't like Jessie Reyez). Last two songs are of course great

should've never called 'Flawless' Do It Well Pt.3 because imma compare it automatically to the first Do It Well and it ain't touching that lmao.

This is a solid project and I can see it growing on me

yeah they killed this record, nineteen85 on some other s*** rn

    "Mainstream"?

They having features is making it more "mainstream"? Is it the production?

Yall killing me with these takes... I feel like it is just something yall saying because it has become a narrative and a few people has said that. But that is just exposing how some of yall listening to music more than anything.

This album and its concept is indeed going over people heads.

Hopefully a lot of people get hip to them and they indeed receives some commercial success. Because they deserve it. They make real projects. Real albums. Like few people does these days.

Its a little bit more mainstream, meaning accessible to more people, since they stepped out their usual DVSN bag

Lot of people gonna start to get the concept more with more listens

Its an easier first listen that say Sept 5th

  • Apr 18, 2020

    Again is indeed

    Very reminiscent of SEPT 5TH.

Nineteen brought out the Phil Collins drum break.

But mainstream how? This is their 3rd project so of course it is gonna be more "accessible" from the beginning. They already have a base and quiet as kept made a little bit of a name for themselves. At least with people who are music heads. They not starting from scratch anymore.

I also dont think they stepped out of their bag at all. It is just more of a new chapter. A continuation of they have already been doing. Reaching new heights.

Nineteen85 has already produced a lot of hits for other people and Daniel is talented af at what he does. So its not surprising they will hopefully begin to reach more people, being as good as they are. I feel like they have always let the music speak for itself and a word of mouth approach to promote what they are doing.

If more casuals find them and now they will be labelled as more "mainstream" and thats what some of the people here are on with this album or because of the features. Then so be it. I hate those type of music fans anyway. "old s*** was better". "I was on them early" etc. Thats that corny s***. Especially when they still havent changed their sound and staying true to themselves. Making real albums with a concept and great music.

    First listen rn.

Really enjoyed Sept 5th, but MA never grew on me.

    Let's see where this goes.

I think the features from people like Summer and Future help it be a little more accessible and "mainstream" with their star-power

I also think Daniel is a little more transparent with his lyrics on here than some songs on Sept 5th, which helps more people getting it.

They are a power duo, no doubt. I love how Twitter championed this the night it dropped because believer it or not, it helps more people listen to the album and get them the listens they deserve.

They're def growing, which is something Daniel said on the JBP, that this is something they always could do, they just had to bring it out and put it out there.

I think it is more accessible and noticeable, is the right way to put it with the features. Because what you are saying I can agree with.

The "mainstream" word has a negative tone to what I think you are saying.

Because nobody "mainstream" is making albums like this, that is as well thought-out and produced as this project right here. With the great music to match.
