well in other mediums critics have more of a place

in the art world many often times look to critics because there are certain aspects to art that one must actually be an expert to detect, this helps to determine the value of a piece

in music this also applies to a degree, but the thing about music is that everyone already feels they are an expert, which puts actual music “critics” in a weird spot of not totally having the public’s trust. I’ll say this, i definitely wouldnt want to be one lol

It is nice to have a group of people dedicated to sifting through it all and giving their in depth opinions on things to just offer some guidelines on what may be worth our time

Not to mention I’ve found so many musicians, artists, films, authors, that I NEVER would have known about, because of critics

Even if it makes the artist salty when the review doesn’t work for them, I think critics do help organizing all of the art for the average consumer

I mean even right now, critics have convinced me to try Ghosts of Tsushima. I don’t know if I would have made the investment otherwise, their viewpoints can be helpful
