has this guy never listened to Views or More Life? 😂 both unapologetically Toronto projects
he has a regional sound, its just not YOUR regional sound; the dude isnt even from your region 😂😂
and sure, he code switches and makes music to cater to US audiences (i'd easily argue more than 50% of his discography does this) but at the core his regional sound is Toronto influenced and he's displayed that numerous times throughout his discography
black people exist outside of the states too... what a tone deaf take
idk he has some very toronto songs basically all of if you’re reading this it’s too late and a ton of NWTS and Views are the specific toronto sound. sure drake makes a variety of music but he definitely sounds like a toronto artist
idk what toronto sound like im from houston
listen to PND, older tory, smoke dawg, pressa, early weeknd, safe
He literally created the Toronto RnB sound, the lofi europop sampling is Drake and 40
Toronto has a winter sound but no Summer sound yknow?
PND and Majid jordan
Whatever sound “Feel No Ways” and “Sweeterman Remix” with ramriddlz and IYRTITL…I would like to believe those are Toronto sounds.
ebro really might be the biggest idiot in hip hop media every time i hear him talk it’s terrible
He's right and I said this on a different thread. Drake cannot do what Kendrick just did. There is simply no equivalent to the cali sound, down south sound, Midwest or east coast. And everything these guys expounded upon is true too.
Kendrick has been building on this since euphoria saying "they run to America, they imitate heritage" and then nailed the point home on the last verse of not like us.

our RnB is very dancehall/afrobeats inspired (the culture here), and our rap is honestly a thing of its own
here are some examples, some are weaker and some are stronger
IYRTITL:
No Tellin' (strong example)
6 God
Star67
Jungle (strong example)
VIEWS:
9
Feel No Ways
Weston Road Flows
Still Here (strong example)
Controlla (strong example)
One Dance (strong example)
Too Good (strong example)
Fire & Desire
MORE LIFE:
Free Smoke (strong example)
No Long Talk (strong example)
Passionfruit (strong example)
Get It Together (strong example)
Madiba Riddim (strong example)
Blem (strong example)
Gyalchester
Teenage Fever
CLB:
Fountains
MISC:
Sweeterman (strong example)
Organization (strong example)
Over The Top (strong example)
Neatly (strong example)
not gonna lie, after making this list, it really shows me how Smoke Dawg's death changed his perspective on our city and his willingness to publicly involve himself in our music scene - after 2017/2018 it seems like a lot changed and he distanced himself from our sound

i really appreciate this . thanks man
Drake definitely has a regional sound. He just tries too hard to fit in with other cities.

if you want to compare side by side, go listen to "No Long Talk" off More Life and then "Trap House" by Smoke Dawg, who was a close friend of Drake's and arguably ran much of our music scene before his passing in 2018
