Great song but no, different era.
nobody talking about charts. the quality of that record would stand up with anything dropped by any relevant contemporary
This is the only place on the internet that refuses to unplug hip hop off the life support lol anywhere else — at least in my experiences — nobody listens to any new hip hop lol only the big names get spins when they put out new stuff and honestly, none of it resonates and sticks the way it used to.
Aint even gon lie I'll cut on classic rock before I listen to Nardo Wick etc
Nobody in real life is bumping Opium aside from teenage boys in the burbs bro
you’re missing the point so fundamentally with this 2018 ass response
We had a Latin surge in the 2000s too with artists like Daddy Yankee and s***. That was also considered a slump era for rap too ironically. Just seems like history repeating itself
I don't really see it lasting but that's just my opinion personally
I don't mind it though, Bad Bunny and them are cool
This era is different from the back when Yankee were buzzing. Latin music today has built a self-sustaining music ecosystem where they can make their presence globally from their own market to the point where Americans are now going to them for the audience instead of the other way around. In 2004-05 none of this was possible like now. In 10 years the same will also be true for African music as well.
Hip hop isn’t declining but its gotten stagnant to while other countries and genres are adapting to the new music climate to catch up.
even my boys were telling me they listen to old rap hits like 50 and Drake nowadays versus anything new
Bruh, it’s fkkn true. I do the same. I hate it. I want new stuff, but none of it hits the way it used to. I know it isn’t me because every now and then I’ll find something new and good, but it’s few and far between. Most of the stuff that is being pushed is s***ty songs produced by Tay Keith (and his clones) with incoherent vocals and overbearing bass. It’s so nuts

You aren’t saying anything man.

100% correct
If we really wanna talk about an artists influence ruining the genre, it's these guys
And alot of it stems from old heads complaining about how "everything sounds the same" for the past 5+ years
All Atlanta artists too
