It’s just a shaky camera and the sound of gunshots, there’s nothing explicit in it

It was just a related comment I’ve heard and read that I thought to mention, I didn’t mean anything deeper than that

Just removed that comment anyway in case it came off the wrong way

    Why they kill him

    Why they kill him

    from reddit/news

As an Ecuadorian, let me provide some context. Fernando was unafraid to expose corruption, especially during the Rafael Correa presidency, which was marred by massive corruption scandals, including allegations of funding his campaign with the Colombian guerrilla group FARC. The history of the left in Ecuador has often been intertwined with criminal elements, resulting in a climate of fear and intimidation. Notably, during Rafael Correa's presidency, a high-ranking military general lost his life while investigating a significant corruption case related to the procurement of military helicopters.

Opposition figures faced persecution under left-wing administrations, leading many to flee the country due to safety concerns. Journalists were frequently subjected to threats and imprisonment. Furthermore, the left party allegedly formed connections with various criminal syndicates, including d*** mafias, to finance their campaigns and suppress the opposition. This divisive approach also contributed to a fractured society. Fernando stood out as an admirable individual, consistently championing what was just and showing unwavering courage in condemning corruption within the left party. The news of his passing has deeply saddened and shocked me. May he rest in peace.

tl;dr: the winning left-wing party got ties with gangs. person that went against them had a track record of standing up against said corrupted winning party. And you know how that ends.
