Also how is it insulting when i consider every FS game amazing, i just stick with the facts about how BB is treated (never said DS1 didnt have the same type of cult following)

Everything else is my personal opinion which im allowed to have and werent even hot takes

Dam lets make peace I dont wanna fight with you its elden ring time. I was just suprised how high you regard bloodborne like for me its always been very close

Ngl i agree with him, seems like the general consensus among soulsborne fans is that Bloodborne is the best, Ds3 a close second, most people respect what Dark Souls 1 did but its not their fav

Thank you. That's how it just honestly feels like. I don't like when people get on my case for this bc i never disrespected the older games... DS1 is super influential and a classic. But not my fav

Ain't no fighting with me! u good! i'm always about the love and healthy discussions. I get how people get passionate and defensive, i'm not under any spell thinking i don't fall victim to that myself! it's normal!

Again, lemme just say one time again: i respect DS1. It's the most influential. But there's just some gripes with it that make me enjoy it less than BB or even DS3. The biggest thing being the difference in pace (i'm a dodge/r1 spammer in the souls games and a parry god in BB), second one being difference in aesthetics (BB & even DS3 both had more eldritch moments) and the 3rd one the weapons.. which i guess counts mostly for BB and not DS3

i just LOVE trick weapons, and i suck at shield parries in DS. Not with gun parries in BB though

don’t feel like quoting all the posts on previous page but i really appreciate y’all’s input

i’m so ready for this game

Bro lets just have a healthy discussion if you wanna keep speaking on it. F*** all them subtweets and s***. And no i never said that, stick to what i actually say and keep it fair and square bro !

I was only talking about consensus among the playerbase. Yes it actually does say something. At the end of the day everybody has their own opinion. It doesn't matter.

Just be RESPECTFUL about it and everybody is allowed to express how they feel. Soulsborne community is largely very non-toxic from my experience. We all love these games and consider them all to be great entries. Elden Ring will be no different

    Love

I agree with flyhii I think

DS1 being a jumping in point may not allow the person to fall in love with the genius bc of the clunk

Bloodbourne being newer let’s you get used to all the genius and the quirks with a tighter more modern game. It still teaches you all the stuff you need to know about how these games work and why they’re so good

And then going back to DS1, you know what you’re looking for and what you’re expecting

My wacky opinion is DS1 isn't that clunky at all, I went Bloodborne->DS1 and it was a pretty smooth transition

I did that too and yeah it’s not THAT bad

But I still think it could turn people away before it clicks for them

Idgaf ds1 still my favorite souls (havent played bb), the freedom it gives you was never replicated (until now with elden ring ) and the level design that accompanies it is amazing, the arcadey feel the game has also is truly special and makes it endlessly replayable. Atmosphere is goated, ost is my fav and it has great lore that successive games have built on but have not matched in quality imo. Some aspects arent as good as in the other games but i love flawed works and i cant deny i have an emotional attachment to it

Damn, thank you. Good post, i almost got carried away and forgot what the intial point of me posting that was about...

yeah that was my main thing, it's just an easier entry into the series. And that's coming from both personal experiene plus what i heard from others

Clunkiness aside.. i consider it to be the most unforgiving of all the entries as well (not speaking on DS2, bc i'm not the type to talk about something i don't have enough experience with). So that's why i think BB may be better to start with for newcomers

Yeah, the lack of fast travel for most of DS1 is insane, that definitely threw me for a loop, was kind of cool with how it added to the oppressive design tho

That last sentence is important. We all have. People feel a connection to these games that you don't see with every game... now just imagine when we all can be immersed in this super ambitious new open world by From... gonna be absolutely MAGICAL

and bc ive seen some spoilers i already know we in for some of the most ambitious boss fights as well! SUPER HYPE

I played BB, DS1-3, Demon Souls and Sekiro for the first time back to back last summer.

Literally didn’t put another game in my system besides these for weeks. Was so spiritual

Also one thing that makes it a lot more enjoyable to me is the fact that it's a much shorter experience which never starts to feel meh at times unlike post-anor londo base game in DS1

You would agree or nah? i feel like in general people consider post-anor londo to be somewhat of a low point in the series (as far as soulsborne goes, still better than a lot of other stuff)

It's weird how it works, i never gave them a shot for years bc i'm not a gamer at all. Thought it would be too difficult... turned out it was too difficult. Sometimes i just gotta NPC summon or grind some more levels to get past a boss. No shame in my game, i still fell in love with the series either way

All the reviewers saying this might be the hardest and given the fact spirit summons get nerfed i'm already trembling in my fking boots fr fr

Being real, I still haven't finished it (focusing on Sekiro atm), I think the last guy I beat was either Seath the Scaleless, Nito, or the Four Kings, it'e been a while lol, but I agree the game definitely isn't as good post-Anor Londo, still amazing though
