hey obviously experiences differ but Bloodborne is the one I wouldnt really recommend to a first time cause of Father Gascoigne and Amelia so early

    Naw

Bloodborne was my first and parry was easy to learn and that does wonders against Gascoigne

Vicar Amelia i summoned a NPC for the first time and ended up killing her in 1 try lmaooooo

    idk

    • DS1 sets your world expectations super high for an interconnected world
    • DS3 is Bloodborne souls and super linear not really what souls is usually like
    • Bloodborne isnt a good starting point bc Bloodborne hits in the first place bc they deviated from the defense style of dark souls and made it more offensive. Also frame pracing issues
    • Sekiro just like Bloodborne is best enjoyed after seeing the games evolve

Anything after DS2 and you will feel like you are going backwards if you play DS1 and DS2. DS2 is prob the easiest Souls game as well

DS2 > DS1 > Bloodborne or DS3 > Sekiro is the best way to enjoy the games in my opinion

DS2 is just gank galore and has the worst boss fights of all their games and its for most people one of the biggest pulls to Soulsborne games

    • best pvp
    • fire dlc
    • cheap
    • dope magic
    • not as punishing for new players generally besides being ganked
    • strikes a good balance between DS1's open map and DS3's linearity
    • wont feel like you are going backwards if you play other games

i think theres a plethora of reasons that playing DS2 first can be highly beneficial tbh

But it is the worst of the series? Looks the worst, plays the worst and has the least in common with the other games

It is but it is arguably and universally known as the worst. And I am not saying it isnt great and it cant be your favorite but thats just what most people say. So when I would recommend from soft games to a newby it would be easily the last choice. Just because speaking from experience it is the most people‘s least favorite

see but imagine that someone plays DS2 first and they fall in love with the game (and they will bc they havent played other Dark Souls games)

they now have 5-6 other games that everyone considers even better and have an insane lineup of games to play all while also having an appreciation for DS2

now imagine that person starts with Bloodborne and they have already experienced what many people consider the peak of Soulsborne games. Now they look online and you have half the people telling them DS2 is ass and to even skip it. They get constantly reaffirmed online that they just played the best Souls game. They already have negative perception of DS2 bc of ppl like you guys so they never play it. They go back to DS1 and then they might call it clunky or outdated.

Playing DS2 first lets you understand and love all of the Souls games for what they are in my opinion

Plenty of clunk in both.. like it's a technical fact lol. Doesn't make them any less great.

I started with Bloodborne and slowly made my way to Dark Souls 1 and honestly it’s jarring at first but once you get used to it the combat and movement is just as good as the rest of the games

This has potential to be their best game

Hate when people say they quit playing DS1 and 2 cause of the clunkiness, it’s a total shame to miss out on those absolute gems
