I’m noticing a lack of Bloodborne .. Cus if you haven’t played Old Hunters DLC it makes this game feel like baby o clock. And I feel like a lot of the ER bosses are designed with bloodborne philosophy in mind
see here again another example
I didnt think Old Hunters was that hard either
it all depends
none of the games are balanced well
if you struggle keep up the grind. Try to find a new approach and come up with your own solution.
Basically the OG meaning of git gud before it was misused

I’ve platinumed bloodborne as well, have over 1000 hours in that game and it never felt difficult the way Elden Ring does, not even the DLC. If anything was difficult, it was up to you to learn the best method to go up against it, learn patterns, brush up on your skills etc. I can fight bosses in Bloodborne and if I die I know it’s because I made mistakes, when I die in Elden Ring it literally feels like I made one tiny mistake that ruined the whole flow of the fight OR the boss threw some ridiculous unfair s*** at me. Never once felt like any of the other games were unfair(except a lot of the bullshit in DS2 but even that isn’t this bad) f***ing Gael is easier to deal with than then some of the s*** in this game.
This game has the biggest difficulty spike, because the game expects you to use the broken s***/ashes of war/magic. Problem is not everyone wants to do that, the game shouldn't be balanced around the broken builds. You can pick a weapon off the ground and immediately become too OP. Moon katana and the magic sword back when the game first released, and rivers of blood now. Bloodhound step also trivializes most fights and jump attack is too op if you're using a strength build. I've used broken builds and normal builds and the difference is night and day
Yeah between the ranged parries and the quickstepping I found Bloodborne was one of the easier ones to be honest

What do you consider a normal build?
I mostly dual wielded ultra greatswords with Bloodhound Step so I guess I was pretty broken

Watch this video start to finish and read the comments, nobody wants to s*** on this game. Everyone wanted to love it, and most do(I still do through all the bs) but this game has glaring issues that I hope they fix if they decide to make another soulslike

Laurence second phase broke me

It really depends, i think anything that doesn't trivialize bosses is a normal build but there's really nothing wrong with using broken builds i think it might even be the intended way of playing the game

it’s not balanced around broken builds, you’re just not good enough at the game to use a pure strength/dex build lol.
idk why some of you can’t accept that you’re just not good enough to play the game in the hardest way possible. you’re literally trying to go against everything the game wants you to do and use to be able to get past some bosses, then wondering why and saying it’s bullshit when your build sucks
true loser ass mentality

It absolutely is, i've beat the game multiple times on new saves with mediocre builds and some pretty broken ones.

so if you, someone who is (no offense) not that great at Fromsoft games can beat the game with a self proclaimed “mediocre build” then that is proof enough that the game is not built around “broken builds” enough to even matter. like please have some self awareness guys

If some of us can go back to and beat Sister Freide, Gael, Midir, and Nameless King on our first try
Or Orphan of Kos, Martyr Logarius, Ebrietias, Laurence, Ludwig
How the f*** do we suck? I don’t understand your logic at all
We are not the problem at all you just can’t stop sucking Miyazakis d*** long enough to admit this game has problems the other games don’t have
But difficulty isn't even the games biggest problem, the biggest problem is the boss design

because you’re comparing Elden Ring to these other games like being skilled at them will carry over to ER on a 1:1 scale, or like it’s meant to be played the exact same way as them
like i told the other dude, get some self awareness and also get good cuz you just are not

Which bosses exactly? The only one I found to be an annoying d***head was Maliketh's first phase, but he has so little HP I just bursted him down and ate his attacks usually.

What you’re saying is fair. I don’t really see it that way but I get you. I’m sure this will make me sound like a Fromsoft stan but I actually love the boss design of ER mostly. Punishing & unpredictable aggressive bosses work for me with how much choice you have in approach. I feel like a lot of how straightforward the core boss design of Souls games are comes from how limited you are in how you approach, so it wouldn’t really make sense to continue that design philosophy with how much you can do in ER. I love how they adapted their new ideas with BB/Sekiro bosses to the Souls design.
And tbh, I just love playing against bosses like that way more in games like this. Souls bosses can really feel so rote sometimes and not in a good way. Once you completely learn the moveset & roll timing you basically won & it’s just a war of attrition. Just playing Margit on a new save feels exciting in ER
Which bosses exactly? The only one I found to be an annoying d***head was Maliketh's first phase, but he has so little HP I just bursted him down and ate his attacks usually.
You mostly notice it with the endgame bosses but i think this a problem with most of the bosses in the game, you just don't notice it with the earlier ones like margrit because the fights are over quick. They borrowed too much from Sekiro imo, the bosses do 10 hit combos regularly like they're playing Tekken, it f***s with the flow of combat because unlike sekiro you can't really do anything other than dodge while they're doing their combos. In Sekiro if a boss is doing a long string of attacks you don't have to wait for them to finish so you can fight back, parrying is fighting back. It makes the combat feel like a constant dance between you and the boss. In Elden Ring that's not possible. They also do too much dmg imo, even 60 vigor isn't enough to tank two hits sometimes
