have been doing a faith/dex build practically Cipher Pata + incantation only, but some of these late game bosses are completely invulnerable to holy dmg
so i brought the Black Knife out to f*** em up
that AoW is brutal, and the slash dmg is a nice lil bonus. usually works on anything i can’t one-two shot with unblockable blade AoW
Faith got shafted , just do fire or lightning , they actually have more (short) burst damage than sorcery spells in general. Whereas sorcery is geared to more sustained damage over time.
Plus faith spells are cooler too
Jesus christ I either feel like I'm underleveled for everywhere I go or there's a huge spike in difficulty post-Caelid
Some areas of Altus Plateau kick my ass, like the forest with the dudes spamming death blight. The Crucible Knights in Siofra Aqueduct killed me like 10 times already
Or I'm just playing like s*** today lmao
Level your vigor to 50 and get a great dragoncrest shield and you won’t even complain about health in NG+, let alone NG 😎
The f***in valiant gargoyle duo keeps f***in my s*** up
I'm runnin a bleed build and I can't proc bleed on these motherfuckers and my weapons don't do too much damage without it
I aint gonna respec for these f***ers
If you are running an arcane bleed build. You need to use an occult weapon, occult weapons scale with how much of the arcane stat you pumped into your character.
Gargoyles are least resistant to strike weapons . So running an occult strike weapon or at least an occult standard weapon and you’ll be tearing those things up.
You can also use occult incantations to finish off bosses too.
For faith + strength blasphemous blade is by far the strongest weapon in the game. The L2 is broken for PvE. If you’re planning to use great shields remember they don’t parry.
Blasphemous blade isn’t a strength build. In fact the strength of its weapon art that makes it so popular scales purely off faith.
What's the best strength build?
I enjoy playing bleed, mostly use Eleonora's Poleblade, the Bloodhound's Fang and sometimes dual Bandit's Curved Swords (don't really feel them tho, I know they're the best weapon for bleed basically, but I just don't like the look and the playstyle), but I feel like I want to use great-shields and larger weapons, I enjoy parrying, guard countering, etc. more than just hacking and slashing that you do with most bleed builds.
So I wanna try a re-spec with strength. My friend told me strength + faith is decent, but what's the best?
For your standard hammer the stone club and standard mace hit really hard even late game if you’re doing pure strength.
Prelates inferno
Great club
Giant crusher
Are all great for pure str in colossal weapons.
The great sword is S+ as a strength weapon
Gargoyles halberd is pretty good too.
Honorable and still very viable mentions go to Heavy dual cross naginata and dual heavy katanas , and dual heavy omen killer cleavers.
And great shields have been nerfed into annihilation. The days of holding a huge str weapon in one hand and a great shield in the other is gone. They killed traditional shield tank build. But buffed the aggressive tank builds (where you are trading damage with the bosses) significantly.
Basically they reward aggressively tanking the boss and trading hits rather than passively tanking it with a shield and taking little to no damage
STR + FTH is the best overall tho. But your discipline will be of fire or lightning rather than holy power to reach huge numbers of damage.
BEST STR + FTH weapons
Blasphemous Bladd
Magma Wyrm Greatsword
Envoys Long Hammer
And literally any halberd goes great with faith /str builds. They scale very well off both attributes naturally when you get nd use them for fire or HEAVVY

I've been using the dismounter for awhile (upgraded it to like +20).
been debating a switch over to the magma greatsword. really need to confirm it's worth the 5 extra weight though.
I'm having a lot of trouble with the Apostle Duo. got through most of the bosses using the Dismounter and various lightning/flame incantations, but this battle is insane to me for whatever reason.

I'm trying out a STR + Arcane build rn, switched from dex + arcane. Using a greatshield + Marais Executioner Sword, the ash of war on that is insanely fun lmao
If I don't like that, I'll try out STR + FTH
Sidenote, exploration in this is so amazing
I was just riding Torrent around Atlus Plateau, got through a crevice in a mountain and in front of me was suddenly a whole ass ruined castle hidden in a valley between Mt Gelmir and the higher parts of Altus Plateau (The shaded castle). Just the sight of it sitting ruined in a valley surrounded by mountains was so dope
And then you go in and its filled with Cleanrot knights, wraiths, poisonous swamp everywhere, hallways filled with statues that seem to look at you as you pass them
Amazing f***in world man

Godskin Duo are weak to Scarlet Rot and Bleed. Meaning they are very weak to pure arcane builds .
They are also somewhat vulnerable to lightning as Ancient dragon lightning strike will do 6k-10k damage per cast if the RNG gods bless you

Godskins are weak to sleep, if you can craft sleeping pots you'll make any fight against them way easier. With godskin duo in particular my strategy was to keep on jump attacking them and tanking the hits as long as i could. Won on my first try with this strat and i only used a carian knight's sword, so without even the huge stance breaking weapons.

I forgot about that, good one. Probably the easiest way to kill them is with sleep strategy

yeah i have a black flame spell and the regular lightning throw equipped at all times, don’t use em too often tho cuz my two daggers are so mf strong lol
the spell i use most is Ezyke’s Decay, helps a ton to just drain bosses who are vulnerable to rot. got my arcane up just enough to use it lol

didn't know this. I killed the skinny one and he somehow got revived. been stuck on this boss for the past few days. gonna try again soon.

Yeah, like the 4 kings in ds1, the godskin duo isnt just two of them lmfao. Once you know their weaknesses they become much more bearable, you can do It
Just hopping in here to give this game some praise. I played Elden Ring last year on Xbox Series S and it was my first ever Souls-like game by From Software.
When I started playing I missed one of the first (and probably most important) objectives in the beginning of the game (getting the horse and the ability to level up) so I was just running around by foot with my base level Vagabond during my first few hours and picking fights in far off areas wondering why on earth I wasn’t leveling up despite fighting (and dying) a lot.
When I eventually learned where to get the horse and level up (with some guidance from y’all) I quickly started to learn more about the game and its mechanics.
I kept playing and learned more and more. I glo’d up from a confused but persistent and curious beginner to eventually becoming an Elden Lord. I ended up putting in 150 hours into it. I explored so many places, became so much stronger, got my swag up and eventually beat all the bosses I came across, not just the main objective bosses but all kinds of bosses in all kinds of environments, all over the map.
Elden Ring is by far the hardest game I’ve ever played (based on the merciless enemies/boss fights that these games are known for) which made it much more satisfying when you beat a boss and eventually beat the whole game.
The game also has the most intricate world I’ve come across. Crazy how much there is out there, not just in the overworld but below it and above it. Lots of secret passages and deep caves that sometimes lead you to incredible sights.
Buying this game at full price was a complete gamble for me because it’s not at all what I would usually go for but it ended up becoming one of the best and most impactful games I’ve ever played.
GG!

Love to see people overcome their first FromSoft game
this godskin duo fight is so tough. I don't have the recipe for the sleep pots. I'm probably going to look into more lightning damage like someone suggested earlier. but it's been about a week or so non stop trying to beat this boss.
Just beat Morgott, man, Leyndell was such a dope dungeon.
When you arrive in the city and that view of the petrified dragon standing over the white city and the gold rooftops and towers was so great.
And then you get down into the city and realize it's in chaos, full of ash, zombies, buildings sealed with wax, etc.
Amazing design.
Godskin Duo is really not hard, all their moves are pretty telegraphed and dodge-able lol
