I can’t lie the idea of him making a video game movie makes me curious tho
Dredd was basically a video game movie
Civil War was horrible and confirmed my suspicion that Alex Garland is sauceless and uninteresting deep down
Quote me when this is some lame generic Netflix fantasy type s***
I still go back and forth on Civil War
I think it's supposed to be a criticism of "objective journalism" but I don't know if it totally succeeds

True and it’s in his top 3… might have something here

I agree
But politics aside I found it really bland and boring, especially for a concept that you'd think would be dope to watch
Also Garland was pretty certain he was retiring from directing after Civil War and during press for Warfare, would be interesting if this is real and changed his mind

It doesn't
Civil War is only a good movie if you don't think about it for more than 2 seconds

Any thoughts on what it was trying to say?
I feel like the odd one out in my opinion of Civil War because my view on it is drastically different than most

This is why I love it lmao
This would be INSANE if it has the budget to back it up. Everything else I trust Alex garland to do justice

It's about how context is important, right? The photographers were so concerned with capturing everything as neutrally as possible that they didn't stop and ask themselves if they should. The photographers are just clout demons who think they're artists. I guess a criticism would be that this is a cynical, unrealistic way to depict war photographers, but they were only ever supposed to be a metaphor anyways.

Left a long lasting impression on me despite being one of my least favorite films of his but that’s just a testament to how great of a filmography he has

So you like it? Or
not even sure what the consensus is i feel like KTT mostly hates it, and the average person in general did like Civil War but not on the level people adored Ex Machina, Annihilation or Devs. But haven’t seen anybody trash it like Men either
Chat is this real tho or fake news, sounds really weird to have a Garland directed Elden Ring adaptation produced by A24. That reads like fanfiction ngl

Now I feel part of it is due to my experience in Journalism (minored in journalism in college) but I also get that people have issues with it not really saying anything on a political front.

Man worked on the DmC reboot, has had his fingers in gaming in the past.
Not a big Alex Garland fan, but this could be great. This could work as a movie or limited series. If they gonna flesh out the characters, and world, then a limited series would be best. Give us flash backs of before the shattering.
I love it

Same, really liked it and don’t care about it not saying anything on a political front either. To me it’s always been about the photographers/journalists and their journey in that type of environment
Did some of my own search and the news seems very sketchy, an exclusive from a site nobody really knows and they already pulled it down too. Other journalists reached out but they didn’t want to comment
Either some people really did get a huge scoop and were immediately threatened with lawyers after publishing or, most likely, its a fake story
How do you even do an Elden Ring movie without it ending up costing $100-200 million?
