But he doesn't realize what the reason for that is - thousands of people are unable to commute without taxis. Or they're just avoiding being on the road for safety reasons. We've been understaffed af at my job, some businesses aren't opening at all because staff can't come in. The solution is not as simple as "Just take a train/bus". Trains aren't even reliable and don't take you everywhere you'd need to go, bus drivers are lowkey dangerous on the road too

We shouldn't be this reliant on taxis, that's why they have so much power and can f*** up the whole city like this. But this is such an ignorant and privileged way of looking at things. "Traffic is better because there's way less people on the road", no s*** bruh If taxi drivers weren't such d***heads, there'd still be busses, e-hailing services and Myciti busses on the road.
