Trash Starmy twitter experience is 99% unchanged since elon bought it
only real difference is instead of getting ads for cheez it's and state farm i now get ads for mobile games and random businesses named something like "onyx money corp" or whateverreply sections are littered with of bots but the for you tab and following tabs are basically exactly the same as they were before

the only time i ever really see bots is if its a viral tweet by a paid blue check, then yeah nearly all the replies are bots. but for most other viral tweets the replies seem to be more or less the exact same as they were pre elon. maybe my experience is just different from what other people are seeing though idk

Feb 23, 2024MCNI think twitter could absolutely be managed better and think there are too many bots and there is way too much p*** in places where there shouldn't be p*** but acting like it's some unnavigable mess when you can tailor, hide, mute, and do other things to see the content you want to see the bulk of the time is whiny.
At the end of the day it's a free service that still, even with Elon running it, does way more to positively impact the flow of information, news, and overall communication in the world.
Also, as others have stated. The Meta properties are littered with hate speech and bots too. They just do a bit of a better job at keeping it a few layers down.
True, ever since I started blocking random pages and s*** I didn't want to read, it randomly started sending me even more cancerous s*** with even racism mixed in.
S*** makes me wish I would've never blocked anything
I noticed it sends me like soft p*** pages. It's always like Latinas in their home country doing random s*** with hardly any clothing or just see thru clothing.
Like WTF is this algorithm bruh.

it’s a little weird to sit there and say if you don’t point out “hate speech” and talk about how awful the moderation is on Twitter is equivalent to being a contributor to the overarching problem lol
no one can do anything, the best anyone can do is report the posts and accounts and hope for the best, and tbh OP made another thread exactly like this asking people to boycott Twitter as if it’s sticking it to the man somehow, this energy could easily be used for something with the possibility to cause actual discernible changes (or at least brought to topics that deserve the attention)—it comes off as the laziest form of justice and activism possible

exactly why i can never f*** with sort of moral grandstanding. if someone doesn't want to use twitter cause they don't like elon, cool, go ahead and drop it. however the second you make it seem like a moral obligation you open yourself up to all types of hypocrisy if you don't follow that same thought process in every single situation, which of course no one does cause that's a ridiculous thing to expect of someone

Lol you misunderstood, that's not what I was saying at all.
Maybe my post was vague and not clear but I was saying that if there isn't mods and rules on twitter and other sites they will turn into a s***hole.

Every minute of every day some impressionable person somewhere in the world will be exposed to it. And they may not turn away this time. This is one way in which communities are formed.
They moderate child p***. And only pedophiles are pissed. Most everyone is fine with that. Because it is deplorable and illegal in civilized society. So is slavery. And many other topics.
Moderation is not necessarily an evil boogeyman that strips us of our rights. It helps snuff the flames of this bullshit.
