Yeah it doesn’t even sound like an Alc beat, Especially the stuff he’s been doing the last 6+ years

yeah that was my point :)

I doubt Em is gonna release the tracklist. He thinks the reason people disliked Revival was because they saw the features early. (lol) That's why the last three drops were surprise releases.

I still can’t get over what Nas and Hit’s engineer said about the making of this track

Apparently he hated the way Em’s vocals sounded because Em had mixed them himself prior to sending his verse, and then refused to send his raw vocals. He also added his own production to the beat that no one asked for

How do you get on a song with quite possibly the GOAT of it all, and be completely stubborn in regards to making it how Nas intended?

I’ve always enjoyed the Relapse era but what was actually the deal with the accents lol, like why did everybody let him do it without saying anything

Em started progressively using more and more accents from 2004 on. (Ass Like That being one of the first examples). Eventually everyone got used to it. In Anthony Bozza's book he said during the making of King Mather's in 2007 Eminem was making songs in Jamaican, Scottish and Arabian accents a lot of the time.

Yeah, Em only does features if he can have final say on mixing/production and also never sends out his vocals.

I think people around him were just happy to see him sober making music again. And he still had an aura. He was the biggest rapper in the world on a hiatus

Yeah, but like I said above, apparently during the d*** years he was using accents in a ton of songs (that haven't been released). Anthony Bozza's book said during the making of King Mathers he was using Jamaican, Arabian and Scottish accents the whole time.

He was always doing voices and s***. My Band has a "my salsa" thing.

He raps like a guy who ran out of trauma to mine and had to reinvent some bullshit to interest him. AKA the most pointless multis and grating flows and batshit accents. They're just technical challenges

  • Jul 7, 2024

Also if you want to see the progression of accents, the rough order the first relapse songs were made in was:

    • Number One (The Crack a Bottle Demo for Dre that leaked. Song #1 of the session, hence the name)
    • Drop the Bomb on 'Em (released on Relapse: Refill, uses Jamaican accent thats a bit different from the Scottish/Arabian one he uses on Relapse)
    • Insane
    • My Mom
    • Must Be The Ganja
    • 3am (this is the last song they made in Orlando in August 08 and the one that kinda cemented the theme of the album)

This is true that he always manipulated his voice and did voices but never for a full song like that until Ass Like That lol.

Also he said it best on Baby:

What goes through an addict's brain besides static pain
And Big Daddy Kane, breakbeats and words? An erratic train
Of thought like splatter paint, scatter brain
Yeah, maybe that explains why you're back but don't rap the same (Yeah!)
