Not sure that’d be from me, even though I’m from the U.K. I hate our rap scene, British accents weren’t meant for rap I’ve always slept on JPEGMAFIA to tbh, what project would you recommend from him?

I liked it, I didn’t love it, but tbh the main reason I didn’t list it was because it was kind of an EP, didn’t really include anything under around the 25 minute mark. But considering how much I like alc and Conway I was a little underwhelmed

I agree with the #1. Definitely the best HipHop album of the year.
Jay Electronica missing on your list tho

Explained this earlier, it’s pretty much down to the horrible mixing and mastering on both his albums and in the case of act 2 the fact it wasn’t even the finished version.

Yeah man Con and Alc should be producing 10/10s. I feel you

Anyone else think Griselda really ran rap this year? Huge year for that collective

Yes, even tho they put out some of their worst (or my least favorite GXFR) music this year. Still ran the show

Their biggest year no doubt! As far as projects, the main 3 all released one great album each this year, but quality wise it was a bit of a mixed bag outside of those 3 for me. But this was defiantly the year they appeared more one the average rap fans radar

What you think to this Reddit post? As somebody who hasn’t checked out Griselda’s entire discog yet, I’m intrigued

You agree with these rankings bro?

  • Dec 25, 2020

Hitler 5 and hall and nash are defiantly not bottom tier for me. I’d put Hitler 7 and reject 2 in the top tier too. GOAT is also a great album. I also think the Flyest Nigga in Charge Vol. 1 is bottom tier for me and not second tier and I wasn’t a fan of 17 bullets by benny personally. Not a horrible ranking though

Haven’t listened to that as much as I should, tbh I forgot about it! Gonna play it later, it’s only 20 mins or so isn’t it? Tbh this year I’ve listened to more new music than ever! Usually I listen more to old school s*** but I’ve had so much time off work this year with covid restrictions I’ve had chance to check out pretty much every significant release

Track 7 on this is beautiful. It’s like a Kaytranda beat. Also, Denzel’s pen is on point throughout “my b**** bad like battle rappers who make albums”

Just listened to it again btw.

I remember I enjoyed the album, but it was just pre covid lockdown so didn’t have as much time to hand as post lockdown albums. Same with the Royce album, I’d dismissed that album until I revisited it tbh

Royce is highkey (I’ve posted this many times) in my top 5 with Freddie. He’s an elite artist and MC.

Should’ve just been set out as a double album IMO. I still think it’s an absolutely outstanding album, like I said earlier anyone on my top 14 are top 5 worthy in any other year! Loved hip hop this year

it is a double album, peep the bandcamp description

happy to see Burden Of Proof love since i've seen some of y'all hating in the griselda thread

i keep coming back to it A LOT and i'd put it over FKTAG even though i usually prefer conway as a rapper

Nice! I’m about to do the same in my iTunes
Where’s your cut off for disk 2? I notice it’s different for the vinyl vs CD. Vinyl cut off is track 9 and CD is track 10
