Europa is a Berlin-based producer and DJ who started out making techno but gradually moved more and more towards embracing pop/rap vocals.

on last year's excellent Wanted, one of my fav tapes from last year, he pairs two shell-ish use of glitched vocals, w bubbly, trancey sounds which build up to rly satisfying, trap-infused grooves, often contrasted w cinematic ambient soundscapes a la Scottish producer 500 (also featured).

I already heard the upcoming album through a connect w his label and it's just as excellent and similar to how much Body Meat lvled up with a massively more ambitious album he's much more confident using vocals and the scope of his sound is exploded

it also has an absolutely stacked feature list if you know your s*** about experimental artists, w filmmaker/NTS host Mark Leckey on opener, ambient/decon club legend bod on a track and China's king of underground rap bloodzboi, as well as Finnish-French club producer/DJ and rapper Emma DJ all featuing

another completely genre-defying album, there's trap drums, harsh fried electronics mixed with ethereal synths and glitched pop vocals. super unique stuff

def getting a strong cloud rap/ witch house influence this time around. again easily one of the most interesting releases of the year
