We need to see how much music these people consume and how vast. Post Spotify and Apple Music data charts too. So many are out of touch and want to pander and only attack artists they feel they can get away with (gambino is the perfect example)

Why are you they way you are?
first, what does rym mean? second, yes.
RateYourMusic...the abyss of rock elitists and /mu/ nerds. It's a very good site don't get me wrong, but they worship prog rock, Radiohead, and Pink Floyd way too much

When your favorite classes are Music Theory & Philosophy you become Cookies
Agreed
A lot of these reviewers have some weird ass taste or don’t even listen to the album and the review is about the artist and not the music lol

I agree the way they praise Radiohead is annoying but I just ignore the top charts anyway. It’s a good way to find lesser known music if you search enough

gotcha sounds toxic... I’m in 😎
I don’t really pay attention to the reviewers or anything, but I completely agree that if you’re going to assess someone’s art and critique it, you should be transparent about what you like and listen to.

I agree. Plus it's a great site for starter packs when it comes to certain genres.

I read a PND review from an old white British man. It was the most boomerish, c***shit I ever read.
You can tell he isn’t bumping PND like that

Exactly. Like I’m not gonna ask someone who listens to pop al day about a an r&b album

If you are referring to fantano I think he got a rym acc
rym is the goat site for finding new albums
I just sort reviews by newest, and peep every album that gets 4 stars and up infinite music
More thoughts needed
I’m gonna disagree
I get the idea and I think that transparency would help to add a level of accountability but I think it’s better for music for people to be able to review the music without needing to give it a “safe” score and I think this just opens music reviewers up to irrelevant arguments about other albums they didn’t or did like which I don’t think is relevant (eg Fantano MBDTF 6/10). it also discourages reviewing of music entirely because it opens reviewers up to more attacks

Op, Music reviewers don’t use Apple Music or spotify, They will use a good ass Vinyl player or be able to get a good ass music player like from fiio with a good ass iem pair to listen to music, You don’t even know op

I don’t think you have to give it a safe score just don’t be hypocritical or like something you know others will like you know?
