When Drake releases an album, the world stops too, but not quite as much it feels like to people in the culture as much as when Kendrick drops an album. You kinda know what to expect from a Drake record in terms of everything really, similar beats, subject matter, rap style, same with cole for the most part, but with Kendrick you just don't know what you gonna get, and it's enough to make you stop whatever you're doing when you find out he drops and listen to that s*** on repeat with the world. I know this is true for other rappers as i said, Drake main example, but it doesn't feel as important as a Kendrick drop.

you're right but the only reason this needs to be stated is because idiots online pretend like Kendrick isn't one of the biggest and most exciting rappers in the world. It's always the same cycle of "nobody listens to Kendrick" then him being the biggest topic in hip-hop whenever he drops.

You mean every time he mentions Drake the world stops because they wanna see where it’ll go.

obviously but there is clear value in that. thats what a real artist does because their work is timeless so they dont need to be around every year around all the young artists like drake was

People are wired to want novelty so when you drop every 5 years of course there is going to be a spike in attention. So there’s the value.

But i would argue it’s harder to be on top for ~15 years and consistently drop music that people have grown up with / lived their life with. Which also explains why drake is the bigger artist.

Even if someone hates drake there’s a good chance they’ve experienced some of the best moments of their life to his music at a club party etc which I don’t think can be said the other way

I thought the track was whatever lol. The delivery imo was awful on some parts (i hate the way / pusha t / don’t know nothing about that). Also the outro - plus i think angle of saying drake isn’t black is so lame

There’s some good bars but im a drake > kendrick guy (obviously) and was pretty relieved that this is what Kendrick cooked up.
