Bro: do you even know what "conscious" rap is?
It's artists like: Common, Talib Kweli, Lupe
NOT artists like: Cole, Drake, or Kendrick.
If anything these 3 are just great rappers all around, but to call them "conscious" shows your lack of knowledge of the genre.
Probably just gonna stop replying to your lame troll ass.
you are not in a position to define who and who isn't a conscious artist. I can't even argue with your opinion.
At the end of the day only real musics gonna last. All that other bullshit is here today and gone tomorrrr

Facts. It’s not like these niggas are special for acting like wack rappers are good. Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer out now.

Both of them did their thing tbh. They got classic hits.
If you talk about Jay z bars like its Nietzche and not just a more complicated ways to say I'm rich and came from nothing then you're probably at an 8th grade reading level

Yeah but outside that?... People are still going back and listening to full on Public Enemy and Tribe Called Quest ALBUMS. Because they were actual artists that didn’t just rely on novelty.

Brooo you gotta be kidding

I don’t consider Lupe as conscious as the other guys but get what you mean.
Beats me bro. Probably when it started to get poppier and more mainstream if I had to guess.
But I can understand if you don’t like DOOM or Jay Elec or whatever, I get that doesn’t appeal to everyone. I personally listen to all rap: old and new, lyrical and not.
As u should, dont know why anyone would limit themselves to one type of rap

Agreed. There's types I don't like, but I can't stand this motive that these (almost always) younger dudes have that act like everyone who's actually spitting on a track is a "lyrical miracle" artist. It's just so corny at this point that rap literally is a parody of itself.

You have an American Dad avi.
You're 12.
That's the point of the conscious discussion people miss. Eminem is not saying anything more meaningful than playboi carti. Rap like all music is very limited topic wise. It's all different ways to say I'm rich, I came from poor circumstance, I'm better than you.
More lyrics does not equal more meaning

And tbh you sound kind of racist too
At the end of the day music is music, music is meant to relate and make u feel something whether its to party and have fun or be sad/introspective. There is good lyrical rap and there is bad lyrical rap same with basic trap music, which means just because its lyrical doesn't mean its good music.

Too bad everyone’s too unintelligent to get the point
This section is full of imbeciles

I hate to be this guy, but while you were condescending everyone you misspelled Nietzsche.

It's easy as f*** to tell you haven't read a book over 50 pages if you think Jay z is "Conscious"
You're clearly a man child who needs wordy music for a superiority complex

I think your view of rap is very limited.
The topics people rap about are endless. Do you know how much music is out there?
Truth of the matter is, that the VAST majority of people praising these lyrical rappers really don't get what the f*** they're saying until they have it spelled out for them or when some white critic or journalist writes an entire thesis on it.
This is why I mentioned Kendrick and said 'it's not necessarily his fault'. It's gotten to the point where his own fans have looked for things that aren't even there and he himself in interviews (iirc it was the Rolling Stone one) has spoken on how he basically has this 'wise sage' type of image when he's just a regular dude.
Word kendrick fans are the worst at that, that whole damn/nation thing
It's funny too when one of sub themes of DAMN was to humanize him and show he has flaws, (sins) just like everyone else and that he's not some god like rap savior that Tpab made him to be
"My fans highlight my most simplest lines"

Ur pretty dumb if you think carti and eminems content has the same level of meaning
