OP is right. There's gate keepers that are currently pushing the narrative that lyrical hip-hop is superior and party-rap is trash. It's the same treatment 80's hip-hop received from listeners of rock/folk/disco/pop. It'll change over time. Probably when all of the prominent hip-hop artists aren't lyrical, and hip-hop manifests into a new trip-hop melodic hip-hop genre altogether. Until then, let the infighting continue!
