I've actually met a lot of people like that being in the gaming community. Its very sad, I think the people on those sites feel alienated from society due to their poor social skills and they find those niche groups of people with the same interest interests but with "counter-culture" knowledge and they can now blame all their problems on minorites, women, etc. instead of themselves.

I guess I used to be a little transphobic because I hadn't encountered the idea of trans people until 2016 where it was a cultural battlefield and going to an all boys highschool at the height of 4chan type humor it wasn't a good mix. But discovering trans people online and realising how great it is to be your genuine self, caused me to fully accept trans identities as valid.

I was raised homophobic cuz in Colombia (at least back then) everybody was traditional as f***. I was never exposed to the idea of gay people being accepted till I came to the US. It took some time but by the time I was 10 years old I realized how stupid homophobia was. I actually talked to my mom about it a year later and she told me she was sorry for raising me under such ignorance. My parents are both very progressive now and half my sisters friends are LGBT lmao so we’re definitely good now but it’s sad to see my fam back in Colombia still use homophobic rhetoric and like, you know, mean it foreal. I hope my cousins back there ain’t growing up with that mentality.
