WB is literally in the worst position imaginable with a movie they haven’t even released

They can’t afford to dump The Flash on streaming or reshoot the movie

The lead is a total PR disaster

At this point they should retitle the movie Batman and The Flash and make Keaton do all the promo

This is why those delays were so stupid, it just keeps costing them more money, from the movie itself to the extra expenses resorting or scrapping already filmed scenes that don't work coming before it

This fast becom9ng the Duke nukem forever of super hero movies, endless money pit

    So it seems like

Tokata’s parents are homophobic/transphobic and are using their friendship with Ezra as something that paints them to make it seem as if Ezra forced Tokata’s identity on them.

Now that isn’t to say Ezra’s relationship/friendship with Tokata isn’t weird. It is very weird.

At the same time, none of the allegations presented are inherently sexual (as described). But again, Ezra and Tokata’s relationship is still weird.

Also the death of the friend that they mentioned in their statement might be the thing that sent Ezra off the deep end this year

Wait so this guy was s***trafficking a minor overseas while starring in the Harry Potter and Justice League franchises?

Celebs can just do whatever they want I guess. He had to have like 3 mental breakdowns for this to even come out.

I mean the article isn't super clear if it was sexual. Creepy regardless.

Studios need to start doing some serious background checks on actors when hiring for BIG franchises

Why are you assuming they dont already know these kinds of things about the people they hire and either turn a blind eye to it or actively enable such behavior?

Whatever happened to them pulling up on those klans members?

I think it’s obvious back in the day they were way more nefarious and they’re not squeaky now but it’s all about money to them. If they know an actor has public perception that is gonna be a huge money liability (box office wise, messing up the production) they aren’t gonna wanna have that happen.

These a huge movies that cost a lot that need to make returns. It’s not even morally that they’re above trash people, it’s just the fact it can mess their money up if things get messy

They dropped JD when public opinion turned, they’re dropping Amber now.

This is gonna end up being like a 300 million dollar movie with the advertising, there’s no way they would’ve gone with him if they knew any of this could potentially explode in their faces

Those are actors who already have a negative public perception.

Producers and distributors simply do not care about a talent's immoral personal behavior and have no problem billing them for projects of all budgets — until their behavior is made aware to the greater public.

Look at Spacey. It was known for over 2 decades that he was a part of Bryan Singer's small circle of predators, which could usually be found at Singer's well known house parties filled with underage male actor-hopefuls. Spacey had an incredibly successful career and was widely regarded in the industry as a box office draw.

Until finally in 2017 the greater public became aware of Spacey's exploits. And what did the studio he was working with at the time do? They spent $10 million reshooting his parts in a finished film two weeks before release, got tons of positive press about how difficult it was to do and how Christopher Plummer saved the day. Then they moved on.

What did Singer do the very next year? Released a film that was in the top 15 highest box office and won 4 Oscars. Whats even funnier is that Singer had already faced a lawsuit in the 90s, then very public allegations in the early 2010s, and another lawsuit in 2017 — the same exact year as Spacey's allegations. But he was certainly not replaced or avoided as a risk by Hollywood like Spacey (a "face" in the movies).

It does not cost studios nearly as much money as you're assuming to replace compromised talent or engage in post-allegation risk aversion. Spacey's 2017 allegations coat the studio $10 million extra on a film that only had a measely $40 million budget to begin with. Franchise movies and television (particularly capeshit) is even less of an issue, since passing the torch to new faces has been baked into the source material for an entire century.

Damn I wonder if that’s the reason for him going off the rails

  • Jun 8, 2022

Ezra started acting wild because he got status and money. No background check, which I’m sure they did, would’ve stopped this.

The movie industry is a gossip filled occupation. If he had these red flags in 2015 already it would’ve been known

Even then they don't "care." Once something goes public like that they basically leave the talent out to dry and move on. Especially in the case of those kinds of franchise films. If Ezra Miller's allegations blew up to Spacey level tomorrow, they would just replace who plays the Flash and they are still guaranteed to double, triple, quadruple their budget because those movies will always succeed at the box office. Any potential losses or damage control for mid production changes due to Miller's allegations would be waived like they were nothing.

The poster I originally responded to was questioning why the studios don't vet talent for things like this before casting them. And the answer is that they don't have to and they don't care.
