did somebody quote me in this thread

the name, the lynch reference with jasmine, the cover, the movie
i’m genuinely excited i think he’s really tying to make a cinematic blockbuster hip hop record
i’m wondering how jasmine fits in the context of the album
i have mixed feelings ab it as a lead single but i haven’t stopped playing it since release, so i guess it says more about it than any qualms i have with the song
Sting reference in the first line btw

night bloom jasmine is good, but it's a song i've struggled to repeat as much just because of the vocals
harshness is often the enemy of repeated listen and i believe that to be true in the case for that song and how his vocals sit on top of that instrumental as well as the high end on his vox
compare that to a song like easter pink where the vocals are more drowned by the beat and less harsh and it's kinda night and day
i hope his vox aren't like that on the whole album especially if he's gonna do a lot of pitched up s***. even if the production is more jerk/rage/drill adjacent

yea the high end is super harsh especially against some of those serum synths but i respect him being committed to his vision
Nah he’s f***ing goated for this
some quick-ish pre-album thoughts b4 this drops
throughout this decade, i've seen many emerging artists face a situation where they are at an inflection/turning pointing in which an album they are about to drop holds significant weight as far as the trajectory of their career
a lot of these said artists—despite how much i may or may not still like their music—unfortunately weren't able to capitalize on these moments because the initial reaction to the project wasn't as ideal as planned
these situations aren't make or break for these artists as a few have been able to turn things around, but not capitalizing on moments like those are really hard to kind of turn around and reap the same benefits if the reception had been in their favor
while i'm not saying this terrified is life or death for mink, he is definitely in that situation that i'm describing right now and it only makes matters more pressing with the way he's talked and hyped him and this project up pre-release.
i don't anticipate this project to be a stinker or anything, but there's a lot more expectation for this to be some sort of masterpiece than their normally would be for an artist of his caliber and who is in this turning point position of this career.
i only worry about this because i fear that even if this album is beloved by his fanbase and just overall considered decent by general audiences that it won't be enough given the way he's chatted over the past month or so and just the general kind of consensus about him at this moment
now, if there's any current artist rn who i believe can break that mold, it most definitely mink. however, i would just hate for this to blowback on him given what's happened pre-release.

No stylist
No stylist
nah i think about lone a lot given this situation and his project for that was definitely ILCK
i will say tho in the case of mink and lone cause i do see parallels a lot as far as their career, i think they both get a lot of credit for having an undeniable project to their name
in the case of lone, no stylist holds for many to this day because it's probably the perfect project from an ug artist as far as an introduction to showing who the artist is, what they're about, and the things they can bring to the table musically
