Crimson kills them all with five songs
Sabbath excluded ofc
Crimson over zeppelin is a hot f***ing take
do blue oyster cut count as heavy metal?
rank 70s metal bands please
blue oyster cult definitely have some heavy metal songs. overall not fully heavy metal but i think belong in a 70s early metal/'proto-metal' list with stuff like Deep Purple
imo Zeppelin should not be on the list. theyre only "heavy metal" by the antiquated definition even though ofc they were influential and have some 'proto metal' hard rock jams
Hawkwind certainly not metal besides like 2 songs. but if we include them then Queen might be more deserving
sabbath
zep if they count
priest
scorpions
boc
hawkwind
deep purple
Black Sabbath
Judas Priest
Deep Purple
Sir Lord Baltimore
Budgie
Motorhead
Pentagram
Randy Holden (only 1 album but it f***ing rips)
UFO
BOC
Lucifer's Friend
Scorpions (i haven't even got to their metal yet so hard to place)
Bang
Jerusalem
Riot
70s metal kind of hard to categorize. a ton of hard rock stuff (heavy psych rock too) on the borderline, and a lot of bands that have heavy metal songs but who couldn't be considered wholly metal
feels weird putting the obviously less heavy UFO and BOC discogs up there with Sabbaths and Priests

Gilliam the most underrated goat imo
A lot of these scenes feel like the extras had no idea what was going on lmao

One chorus and you’re outta here
