@rise_zero I posted that Totinos Rocket Mortgage gaming compund vid from Dunkey in that thread, and I went to see if those guys ever mentioned Dunkey's vid...cause I assumed they were a huge channel...
But no, that 100 Thieves channel only has 1.3mil subs. Dunkey himself has nearly 5x that many. Why/how the hell are these relatively small channels getting these multi-million dollar sponsorship contracts and giant office spaces??
S*** legitimately surprised me. I expected them to have like 10-20mil subscribers at least
probably started by someone with a lot of connections? or maybe just a big company trying to get in on the gaming channel thing and spending the cash in all the wrong places. i dunno just reeks like out of touch corporate bullshit.
that place looked dead too. guarantee that place was rented out to someone else a long time ago
gave me mtv cribs vibes when celebs would rent out these huge extravagant mansions and lie about it being theirs just to look cool haha

Yeah s*** really weird. Cashapp and Totinos at least make sense for that demographic but that RocketMortgage s*** fries my brain
Yeah I'd be very surprised if they're still there.
I'd be surprised if they even used that office space to begin with and didnt just have their sponsors rent it out so they could make that video

A few years ago i still dug a some of the Melissa McCarthy films that came out. But i just couldnt keep up with her output. I feel like she has cranked out so many fat-chick slapstick buddy-type dramedies over the past 5 years that its overwhelming just seeing a new movie poster with her on it
The last few I tried watching I couldnt even get halfway through. I think it was my husband who put on The Kitchen when it hit streaming, and I got up and went to bed cause i was so bored.
And then me, my brother, and my dad tried watching that one raunchy puppet crime movie she did and like 15 mins in my dad said "this is terrible" and changed it to Urban Cowboy haha
Also, why does it seem like in 75% of her movies over the past decade, she's either playing some type of cop (police, government agent, P.I., superhero, etc) — or she's playing someone who's wanted by the cops? I think it's even been both at once multiple times lol, where she's a cop who goes rogue/gets fired and the cops dont want her to investigate
Is my memory making me think she has a ton of films that fit the above, or does she actually have a ton of them?

As trash as Pitchfork is and will continue to be, I'm glad and surprised they didn't jump on the hype train of the the new St. Vincent album. S*** was so underwhwlming.
However, I did not read the actual review and am sure their reason is some dumb s*** not related to the music

just checked and yup
" She’s cited statistics about the effects of the prison-industrial complex on Black Americans. During visitation in her father’s prison, she says, families were invited to pose against a backdrop of a plantation veranda. It seems clear that she wishes to empathize with the Black community and critique the prison system.
But dissonance appears on Daddy’s Home whenever Clark’s louche time-traveling character collides with the political tensions of the present day. It’s odd, for example, that two songs on the album refer to calling “the cops,” or 911, in light of the past year’s uprisings against police brutality. A reference to Nina Simone’s “Mississippi Goddam” in “The Melting of the Sun” is similarly ill-considered. Like Hozier before her, Clark dilutes Simone’s fierce and intentional anti-racist activism by listing her alongside white celebrities. The album’s title track deploys a sticky bassline, a syncopated funk groove, and the voices of seasoned Black back-up singers Kenya Hathaway and Lynne Fiddmont to tell the story of Clark and her father, a white man who committed a white-collar crime. Why deploy the conventions of Black music to reckon with his sins? Why wear a mask at all?"

It's not that great but I think it's a step up from Masseduction imo. The songwriting is more organic and the arrangements better in general. Antonoff's production is once again a bit too clunky but the arrangements are really good most of the time. However, it definitely lacks the stylstic variation of her older albums and some moments are just meeh.
