this ending is everything
Thanks for reminding me that i somehow still havent watched this or Brewster McCloud
Yeah @arel's cool but he once posted a video of himself latching onto the railings of a staircase and climbing.. up it. It's hard to explain. Dude was like a spider. Was kinda cool tbh but it's fun to goof on him for it.
@Elric remembers
Oh I remember
"Go climb some stairs" was all we had on him for a while
I wish i worked at a music publication and was in the position to fire staff writers/ban contributers who write s***ty stuff haha
I'm surprised there hasn't been a publication yet that's turned absurdly "cutthroat content standards" like that into a desirable gimmick tbh. Exclusivity still attracts as much as ever, and a publication that's known for axing contributors/writers for subpar content would probably have a good chance of becoming a big topic.
You'd have all the salty ex-staff angry-tweeting, then all the "this is bad and here's why you should agree" Medium essay backlash. But on the other hand, the site would likely get a s*** ton of traffic just from people flocking to judge if the content lives up to the reputation. And also a ton of contributor submissions because it's like those people's wet dream to hold onto an exclusive position that implies you're good at what you do because of where you're published — not just one of 15-20 nameless douchebags in NYC who can't even tell their own writing apart from their coworkers.
you are nefarious
I love the Olympics, can get massively into basically everything sport in it except the f***ing stupid horse nonsense
Haven't watched a shred
Has anyone seen that karate event where they're not actually fighting anyone? What's all that about
Poomsae? It's to show off your immaculate form
I scooped up all the golds doing that as a kid
you are nefarious
I was just about to mention you to say you should add the last film I logged to your watchlist.
The Woman in Question (dir. Anthony Asquith). It's an even more elaborate Rashomon-style film, BUT it was actually filmed at the same time as Kurosawa's, and released ~2 months after his.
Quite the impressive example of parallel thinking tbh

Is this pretty much the same as the forms you have to memorize and perform in Tae Kwon Do to rank up your belt? I remember me and my brother doing those when we were kids in TKD class
Now i wanna see this stair video haha

Yeah but I'm not sure if that's what bizzle was talking about
They were easy to get a gold for tbh you just had to memorize a pattern and look superserious lol

Well done on being the best at beating up thin air, tough guy

Well by the time I was ten I was half the size of everyone else and was getting my head kicked in when sparring at tournaments so let me live

Damn i remember memory being only like half of it ib my class. We were just a group of like 20 kids all in elementary school, performing forms in front of our family members to get a new belt — but if little Bobby's kicks weren't high enough, or he didn't hold his leg straight and still enough, the instructor would run up and interrupt the form in order to stretch the kid's legs above their head and scold them
What i hated most about tae kwon do as a kid tho was the way they'd make everyone stop in class and do 25 pushups if a single kid f***ed something up or acted out. S*** happened like 10 times every day

I think I was just a natural at mimicking proper form, the other kids would get harangued. It was part of the belt progression for us too
trying to nail it in front of some old Korean masta

I wanted the f***ing green and blue belts so badly, even more than black or red. The specific hue of the green and blue ones was so pleasant to look at
Never made it past orange cause we stopped going to class when we switched to the skate rink's after-school program

My sister and I both made it to red belt with 2 black stripes
one test away from black
Out parents were having the most godawful divorce imaginable by then though and my crazy mum had made the "violence" of TKD one of the pivotal things to fight about with my dad (even though she was the crazy violent one) so we both just said f*** you guys then and quit
wish I could have seen it through. At least I picked Jiu Jitsu back up a decade later.

I did see this actually and kept the tab open to respond but it ended up getting forgotten
I knew about I'm Not Sayin but never heard The Last Mile before

She must've been confusing Tae Kwon Do with it's violent cousin Rex Kwon Do

Dont forget that between Jimmy and Lou your boy Bobby was tapping it too.
