rent has been crazy the last decade or so in part bc of the schools in/around boston. rich families from out of country/state paying out of pocket to send their kids here, a lot end up staying and living in/around the city. also traffic is f***ing terrible so even 30min from downtown is gonna be pricey. from '18 to '19 avg rent went up like 130%

Yeah i have noticed that people drive VERY differently here and it makes me crazy because its seem like a big reason why traffic moves so slow.

People here tend to keep the same pace with literally every other car around them, regardless of lane. I have very rarely ever seen someone change lanes to pass someone on the highway into DT Boston or going the other way towards Braintree/Brockton. Most of the time there's no room to change lanes to pass because everybody spread tf out on the road and then they all go the same speed.

It's the total opposite down south, where we have "slow traffic keep right" laws so there's almost always a free lane or two on the highways for people to pass or go faster (on any highway outside of Atlanta i mean haha)

My husband thinks its because of the winters here and everyone just drives extremely cautiously like the road is always iced/snowy or something out of habit

There are a lot like that in the actual downtown area itself, but where i live it's a mix of residential and highway.

Except driving both of those are like playing super monkey ball cause half the roads here do all kinds of crazy turns and merges. I dig how often they've used roundabouts on highways here though, but the lanes in them are huge and there are no divider lines painted on the road, so it feels like a free for all in them
