I've already mentioned several times how much I loved your "Nolan is so overhated that he might as well be underrated" take which was essentially making the same point but so much more succinctly

It’s a totally different thing I’m describing. Nolan being overrated is usually a justified position and most people that say it are being sincere. So many people say it though that barely anyone is actually seriously examining his work on its own merits. The difference with Anderson is there’s more of a distaste to the culture that grows around him and the people that are drawn towards his work than his actual work. When someone gets excited to trash a new Wes Anderson film it’s because they associate him with people and things they hate. He encapsulates “twee white hipster” in their eyes.
