I'm not even a big fan but if you ask a bunch of other people in this thread and on earth she's one of the greatest artists of any genre regardless of her gender

I know I've told you how influential her guitar playing and fancy folk tunings were to Neil and Jimmy Page and Keith Richards etc

yeah i see but still just feel like "far and above" literally everyone remotely in the lane maybe sells some others too short? idk specifically just feel like its probably too easy to reduce female artists to "kate bush then everyone else" type thing

but ofc i dont know joni's true greatness. Blue is one of the most venerated albums, perhaps the most venerated, that I do not like at all

maybe that statement really is true for Joni above all others and she's the goat, idek

speaking of Jimmy Page, this Zeppelin revisit really didnt go especially well expected them to only grow on me as the true hard rocks goats or something but Plant only gets worse and worse over time

you cant convince me that this isn't an atrocious vocal performance. TALKING BOUT LOOUUUOVE

From what I can tell she was running laps around everybody not named Dylan Neil or Leonard. She doesn't seem to have a problem admitting this.

Closest female contemporary would probably be Sandy Denny whos voice I prefer but clearly didn't have a fraction of the overall musical talent that Jonie
has.

only heard Blue and a smattering of random songs my friend has played for me

i've never heard any others like Laura Nyro or anything but idk how folky she even is. and if Nico is "remotely" in the same lane then...

im kinda just expecting there to be some elite female artistes from back then who were overlooked unfairly

and Leonard... i like him more than Joni but not much more. heard his first 4 iirc

yup everything is great on it except the vocals. probably the most striking example i could think of where Plant literally just ruins the song for me

ofc some other ones where he's fine on like Stairway or something, which just makes the bad moments more irritating. I wouldn't want anyone else to sing Stairway but definitely an exception

lowkey ready to become a real Zeppelin denigrator as theyre seeming more and more like the overrated uberpopular golden goose as I continue to listen to dozens more hard rock albums. rather than the Beatles of heavy rock. i couldn't even put a LZ album in a top 10 hard rock albums list at this point

Page certainly not a goat for me either. Bonham might be the best member but still not a favorite really

I felt this way about their first couple albums for eons but something about house of the holy and physical graffiti never gets old

Physical Graffiti then probably Houses still leading the pack but not far off the rest imo. will always have to respect their 6-7 album run as solid at the least

Crunge and Dyer Maker will always suck anyway tho and I don't care how much of their James Brown and reggae s*** they were on

stairway their best song if we're being honest
