Which is the point of poetry. I think most people get too wrapped up in words meaning something more than them simply evoking images in your mind. Mr. tambourine Man for example.
Thing is some people arent good at picturing s*** in their head. Their brains just don't work that way.

Absolutely. Which is why Max Martin has been the most popular songwriter of the last 30 years

ah, a true songwriter and not a lyricswriter
idc how dumb or nonsensical these lyrics are

Shake it Off is a good song
He’s a certified legend
I wasn’t dissing his craft
He’s legit written at least 10 of the best songs ever
Yeah this is cool. It's just the Friday I'm In Love stuff that makes my brain hurt.
That’s a great pop song, c’mon

Just give me Shake it Off
true but every single song on there objectively kicks the s*** out of Lovecats and Dressing Up
Wish is very nice btw i think youll appreciate it after the long chrono digestion. great execution of their lighter ethereal style attempted earlier but combined with some of the learnings of Disintegration
Dressing Up is cool and it’s neat hearing Smith vocalize like that. Sounds like he’s drunk crooning. Love Cats it’s corny but fun.
Just give me Shake it Off
You heard that album? Whole lot better songs than that

That’s a great pop song, c’mon
Some songs just overwhelm me with bleakness and nausea and that is one of them. Like All Star by Smash Mouth.
just like heaven and disint title track
The part in the beginning where he’s like “show me show me show me” is like the most in love and happy someone has ever sounded on a song.
what is your general approach for digesting lyrics for the albums you listen to? do you read through them as you listen? (on the first listen?) do you set aside separate time to read through and a***yze?
just trying to understand the perspective of the diehard Dylanophile
ngl i have barely even paid attention to any of the lyrics on Time Out of Mind yet. gonna watch no direction home soon btw
That one part in Highlights where it’s just him talking to a waitress and she says “you must read women authors” feels like a journal entry

Sounds like you didn’t get your game on

How much MoTown have you heard? Cause Stevie alone will give him a run for his money
not a huge fan of friday im in love or the majority of Kiss Me tbh, think its easily the most overrated "classic"
Shake It Off, Blank Space, and Style being the single to an album in retrospect is so crazy. One of the biggest rollouts ever.

he thought the supremes were produced by phil spector last plug so not alot

Robert Smith is a true master of emotion

its unwieldy for sure but i think its better than head on the door
