If anyone wants to give me some recommendations to change my mind I’ll take them. I like some 90’s R&B and of course the early 60’s girl groups but that’s almost a totally different thing. Didn’t I Blow Your Mind is also one of my favorite songs ever so there’s that.
do you like Marvin Gaye or Stevie Wonder?
Who is that woman
idk just looked up squeezebox gif cause thats how disintegration ends
f***in knew your tiddy fiend ass was gonna inquire
Well I like a lot of that early stuff already but it’s a very different thing. Drifters are great.
i prefer the old s***
The part in the beginning where he’s like “show me show me show me” is like the most in love and happy someone has ever sounded on a song.
yeah the song is great

Yeah, Sister looking like its gonna be my favorite sonic youth album (of course need replays, but I like how tight the instrumentals sound compared to like Daydream Nation, which is a bit overdone at some points imo).

The most iconic SY album is the one where Thurston Moore shuts the f*** up and dies
been revisiting whole Sonic Youth catalog recently, just getting to the 00s
still a goat discography as expected. Experimental Jet Set... surprisingly grew on me, its really not a weak album at all
That whole no wave sound never connected with me. There’s some good stuff for sure with them but I’ll have to give them another go.

maybe listen to some of the 00s stuff if you never tried it, there is definitely some more straight up alt/indie rock that isnt even that noisy to be found

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOz3ywZ3ctMYo this song always reminds me of Dino Jr's version of Free Bird
like you may not wanna jam the whole thing but once it gets goin its
I love this album
Which is the point of poetry. I think most people get too wrapped up in words meaning something more than them simply evoking images in your mind. Mr. tambourine Man for example.
Yep and these more ambiguous songs have better replay value cause you're always trying to figure it out. As soon as I think I know what a song is about it loses its mystique.
Didn't think I'd edit down an album ever, but had to do it for DONDA. Still like mostly every track but had to remove a few for maximum effect
might be the gospel influence in there, stumbling block for me too. I have warmed up to it more via digestion of early R&B -> Soul. but im still not all the way on board with some of that era's vocal stylings like Aretha who definitely does the style you're thinking of
haven't made it much into contemporary R&B yet. somehow I was able to get into some Mariah Carey though, but I hate Beyonce's singing
Beyoncé sounding aggressive > anything else she does

I did the same for Views when it came out and it set me on a long path of experimentation
