Dude was spittin’ tbh, bc I too hate the eagles
what about The Cars, Boston, Chicago, and Styx ? :mystery:
what about The Cars, Boston, Chicago, and Styx ? :mystery:
That’s quite a combo lol I do like The Cars though
i dont have a fetish for "wankery" im just not allergic
"impossible for kids to relate to it" i mean you gotta specify that you're talking about the cool kids here. we can't pretend that legions of kids didn't flock to Van Halen and 80s guitarists that followed in eddies wake. and regardless of the wankery aspect which I don't see as the main thing, obviously stuff like Kiss' massive popularity
im not a big van halen fan or anything but we cant act like eddie's wankery was impossible for legions of kids to worship
I didn't mean Van Halen I meant prog ELP, Yes plus Zeppelin etc all the giant 70s bands in the mid 70s before punk happened
And Van Halen had a lot more fun in their lyrics then the prog bands overblown bullshit

The Cars are out of place there, cool band

My dad likes The Cars haha

those bands/styles largely continued their popularity though they didnt just fall off immediately while every kid flocked to punk
pretty sure ELP just fell off hard and broke up. but Yes and Genesis experienced commercial peak after that (even tho they "sold out", they didnt just lose all their prog). and ofc Zep broke up but their influence still remained strong into 80s popular rock
you may not have meant van halen but you just said "wankery" which is super vague tbh cuz apparently it can describe both improvisational music and rigorously composed music. i dont think wankery is the right word
i feel like any music history narrative that is presented like "X killed Y" is oversimplified and just for the sake of a story. all music styles arise and fall, doesn't mean that one killed the other when they were at opposite ends of their cycle in the same year
definitely repeating stuff ive said itt at some point lol but whatever
edit: peeped your edit, "fun" vs. serious is definitely a whole different topic also
anyone heard that Silk Sonic album
i listened today, it was aight gonna give a few more listens
Broski I really don't know haha like Metallica in the 90's also went through the same thing. They did way better than GnR would have but they also seemed out of place while going more commercial. The change in the soundscape of rock was drastic yo
by the look of me i wouldve been one of the dudes that kept rocking Depeche and Pet Shops Boys and s*** well into the 90s :datass: look like i should be listening to Technique which wouldve been on the charts at the time

The mass media “poptism” push to convince us Taylor Swift is good is total nonsense. She is the definition of mediocrity. Getting the dude from The National to produce your faux folk record and get some Bon Iver in there doesn’t make it more respectable. Not to perpetuate gender roles or whatever but grown men regardless of sexuality should never utter the sentence “oh god I can’t even, Tay Tay killed it”.
In this episode of “Fidelio vs.” we see him go against the Swiftie army.
WHO WILL WIN IN THIS GRUESOME BATTLE TO THE DEATH?
nap time more like trap time
So you were the baby who sold Chappelle the crack?
Mothers has some of Eno’s best work
Ehhh idk way too subtle to regard as a career high imo. Never been crazy about that song.
The atmosphere achieved on Exit before the band snaps however
incredible. Edge goes so f***ing hard on it
oh god I cant even with this new rerecorded Red
Tay Tay killed it
So you were the baby who sold Chappelle the crack?
