I listened to Republic by New Order. Maybe I’m easy to please with this kind of music but I thought it was a really good pop record. It’s a step back from Technique and that albums full embrace of being dance music, but it ultimately still works even if it feels a bit “long” for a New Order album. I don’t think they have a truly bad song, but there are a few here that feel like they’re on the verge of becoming bad with some small part in it. There’s one track with borderline spoken word rapping that’s only saved by its catchy hook and the occasional cool switch up instrumentally. Young Offender, Regret, and Liar are the highlights for me.

Tbh his own films don't really do much for me but Del Toro himself and his influences are clossic. Same for Sean Baker with me

Did you dig early Iceage ? I think I remember you mentioning them but another group where the vocalist can turn someone off.

It’s a very obvious Pet Shop Boys homage. I don’t know how much of “Madchester” and other rave rock you’re aware of but this is what they were doing at that time.
