Damn RIP Peter Bogdanovich. Last Picture Show is a perfect film

Agreed. I also think Targets is perfect, it transitioned horror into the modern age beautifully

Zen Arcade relisten going good. First half is a bit too dissonant in parts for me, just sort of riding one kind of angry energy covered in fuzz. I guess I just don’t like punk that much. Second half much more compelling. Standing By The Sea is incredible, there’s this really sinister feeling buried in it that keeps rising to the surface throughout the track. Lot more songs after this point that click.

yeah but I don't get the criticism tbh. Always thought that Badlands was a bit more stylistically "conservative", which makes sense considering he made it before Days Of Heaven (Not saying that one is better than the other even though I personally prefer Days Of Heaven).

I don’t even rank Days of Heaven that high in his filmography but I watch it the most. It’s a warm comfort film for me. I agree with Aruji that Badlands is more stylistically “conservative”.

I think New Day Rising is way more my speed overall than Zen Arcade. It’s for sure more “conventional” though.
