Highway Patrolman is my favorite Springsteen song and one of my favorite songs of all time. Everything else on the album is great too but it all sort of stems from that song if that makes sense. Like that’s the heart of it and everything else is growing from it. It’s just really focused and consistent. I’ll just never be one of these guys who prefers longer albums simply cause they’re packed with more great songs.
not knocking Nebraska. It's a great album imo.
depends imo. Longer albums often open a complex world of their own where the songs just become characters in a broader story along the way. Most great albums do that but longer albums can go more into depth imo. For example, if I listen to The Price You Pay on it's own I still like it but it doesn't move me anywhere near as much as when it's part of the journey. other
EDIT: Nick Cave not a good example. If you'd make an 8-10 track album out of my favorites off Blonde On Blonde it wouldn't work anywhere as well for me. Something like Obviously 5 Believer or Temporary Like Achilles just has to be on there.
it was the only time he was dropping shameless guitar solos
beast springsteen
im sure its probably overplayed for you but Born to Run title track is the one. climax is easily the greatest moment of his career. logical conclusion to Spector influence in rawk music too. springsteen guitar and sad stuff etc. is all cool but i dont think his anthemic stuff is the field where he stuck out further from the rest of the pack
im not very confident about ranking his albums. always felt like Wild Innocent perpetually underrated too and is right there with Born to Run, Darkness, River, Nebraska

ramrod is a banger though
I really don't like these type of statements. Just because you don't have the imagination for it doesn't mean he wouldn't have. Nobody else was envisioning a Joy Division in the '70s either. And a Banshees prove that there was room in the '80s for a Joy Division.
they were already going more accessible on closer too with isolation too to prove your point. and you see with a bunch of darker post-punk and goth bands usually go a different route whether it's diff kinds of pop music or new wave
good game Burrow and that defense got it done
Bills gotta take care of business and your boys gotta pull the upset

This new one is really strong! Sounds a little beefier than anything she's done before, I like the wailing guitar on a few tracks
