I always sung the praises of Fresh Cream
Easily the only time besides D&tD I liked a Clapton album

i think Fresh Cream is underrated because of how horrendous the stereo mix was

mono is so much better, but it was never re-released until recently

I think this dude got 2 really great movies, but I can see why people wouldn't like his joints.. His influences are right in the front of everything he does to the point he's basically paying tribute to them. Eggers gon Egg.

In his critical essay "Tradition and the Individual Talent", Eliot argues that art must be understood not in a vacuum, but in the context of previous pieces of art.

Eggers has a peculiar sense of humor and is well on his way to breaking free of paying homage.

very fine blooze to me, i like the lushness that comes from the many guitar tracks, and rhythm section is great. and zenith-wise i feel like it was the album he was trying to make his whole career

only part i dont like is Claptons vocals

Eggers is kinda just in that line between mediocrity and masterful

Love the craft in his films but it often feels like that is all there is to them

Lighthouse’s greek symbolism was extremely in your face and that ending honestly had the “shocking depth” of that KTT Guilt Trip music video.

Can’t comment on Midsommar but I would say Hereditary is about as good as Eggers films.

Also can’t say I’ve rly found anything funny in the lighthouse. Even the phrase “yer fond of me lobster, ain’t Ye?” Was funnier out of context than when it was said in the movie

if your talking film makers all your dusty directors from Dreyer, Murnau, Tark, Bergman, etc.. Remember that scene in The Lighthouse when Dafoe shoots that ray of light from his eyes, that was literally from that German painting I mentioned in the other thread.

Its not a bad thing, I like Eggs.. But his style is definitely linked to his influences hard.

No but humour wouldn't be the right word either.
