Hmm, will always love TTM and genuinely think "Third Uncle" has an argument for his zenith, but the first 2 are the only major works of his (73-78) that have stuff of his I don't love completely. TTM is a clear upgrade from HCTWJ, but I think he continued peaking into 75 (AGW and the underrated Discreet Music) and his absolute madness of a peak in 77 and 78 (not only his own work but his incredible contributions to Bowie's two best albums (imo))

I don't have a super defined rules for what's wank but it's usually just when the band or guitarist goes into too flashy and fast technical mode throwing a million notes or chord changes or unnecessary movements out there just to show off now amazing they are. Wouldn't call Dead wank I'm aware they are mystical guitar weavers with righteous intent but if just doesn't hit for me.
