    #1 album ever

yeah, they already got TPAB above every jazz or R&B related album in history and it seems like only a matter of time before it passes Radiohead just because of the sheer popularity

overall ranking charts are one of the least useful parts about the site anyway, it just shows who the most popular artists are among the userbase

This is why I don’t use sites like that. The annoyance over things like this inevitably affects your actual feelings towards the music itself.

thats not really the point of the site though, its the best music database in history where you can also keep a complete list of everything you hear and like. and generate infinite lists of undergrounds albums youve never heard based on a select few or users or the entire site or whoever you want

Yeah it’s the equivalent of Letterboxd when it comes to film and I sometimes regret using that site as well. I totally abandoned star ratings altogether which is pretty liberating when discussing art.

there are some insane people on there who legit try to do statistical a***ysis on the top charts and are emotionally invested in their favorite albums rising. crazy but i guess its just another type of sports-like chartwatching like twitter pop stans do

its a site like youtube where most of the time youre better off not engaging with the community

ive never tried to complicate or overthink star ratings, for me they are just synonyms to good/great/amazing/w.e

if i can call an album great i dont feel weird about giving it 4/5 stars to represent that. and its not always supposed to be a comparison its more just keeping track of how much i liked things. its interesting to be able to look back 5 years ago and see which albums i was enjoying the most

makes an easier starting point for lists too when i can just instantly get a big list of albums i thought were amazing (4.5 stars) at some point from a given time period

He wanted to call the album “2 Pimp A Caterpillar”
    thank god someone stopped him

Someone should've stopped him from manipulating a dead man's interview to sound like he's the one talking to him

Rock critics, instead, are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest.

The main problem is the entire thing conflates opinion with fact. He names a bunch of ppl who do things “better” than The Beatles and it’s like
