Think the game was adjusting to Kanye? He was like when The Beatles showed up to early 60s rock stagnation and it took everybody a couple years to readjust

He def bridged the gap between conscious underground and braggadocious mainstream and people credit 808s for the modern sound in hip hop (which is true) but College Dropout made it cool for rappers to have a soft side before 808s came out.

I would probably take 2010's over 2000's rap.. Maybe :mystery:

2000s had as many classic albums as the ‘80s
    Idk what was going on

Definitely, 2000s rap was killing me by 2003 converted almost entirely to rock for a few years. Kanye, Clipse and Wayne like the only rap I still have from that period.

    The singles were great still

2000s was very weak if you don't care for the early-mid 00s underground, but the 'bling era' was super bland imo. OutKast kept it fresh at the start of the decade and Kanye gave the decade some life halfway through. There are a couple classics scatterewd throughout.

I agree that 07-09 is a weak stretch but the rest is great

I can still remember very clearly the transitions from the Aftermath and bling dominance and overload to breath of fresh air Kanye I can totally imagine how it must have felt to experience the Beatles switching their style up every album back in the 60s because it was mind-boggling keeping up with Kanye

    Crazy

There were maybe 50 great rap albums after 2003. But that’s being generous.

I don’t think anything released last decade is a classic besides MBDTF. It usually takes longer than a decade for me to call something a classic. It’s also a weird thing that people talk about exclusively with hip-hop.

Danny Brown got a classic at the absolute very least. Future and Thug too.

Realizing outkast was fizzling out tremendous loss only made up for by Kanye
