lol it just feel like when i lurked ktt1 when registration was closed i was getting put on to mad s*** (i was also young and hecking other sites) but now nothing hitting me and it seems like there isn't discussion around newer artists like there used to be. i guess as @Elric put it we are turning to geezers (collectively)
love ur threads tho proper

but yeah I said it the other day when I got on ktt it seemed like the most progressive and exciting era since I had started buying rap albums in the late 90s but it's been kind of dry since 2016. I'm also personally way to immersed in turbo dust to keep up with current stuff.

wait what is turbo dust all im getting is a vaccum cleaner. laughed at u blocking him btw. yea you are older than me if you were buying albums in the late 90s. i think if i was your age id be off checking for new stuff to on the real
never get too old for music my dawgs

if you've lost your faith in love and music the end wont be long
sometimes i wonder how bad/good the music has to be to get support. or people to spin it. like whats the line
Too many variables to fathom

oh i just meant rap wise. i think i miss the excitement of finding new acts but i was so young everything in the world at that point was new to me. i listen to new stuff all the time, usually in other genres in greater quantity than i do in rap.
but u right
Turbo dust;

who the hell can chew all of that gum
ima spin the block on this once more
i also feel like im personally turned off hearing about od violence in my music so that cuts out a decent amount of rap..

Yes I was getting tired of hardcore gangster rap being the mainstream right around the time Kanye came along but I guess he only killed it for a few years. Who brought it back? Chief Keef?

Now that I've seen him in a ton of other stuff I realize how especially understated Ben Kingsley was too
never would have thought he was the embodiment of a british ham
Haven't seen Gandhi since I was a kid either actually
Time for a Sexy Beast rewatch if you haven’t seen it :elon:

Ive long thought RYM could have a letterboxd style come up. They need to letterboxify the interface and get a mobile app. Theyve been promising a modern site with modern features for years called SONEMIC but i dont think whoever runs the site has the vision/time/inclination for whatever reason

i dont think i want this to happen
do you know what Musicboard is? seems like that one is trying to be like a music letterboxd, i think RYM style is much more useful as a resource. they should just improve the social features but not make them the entire focus imo, database should always be the focus

Scientist, keith hudson, mighty diamonds, gladiators, augustus pablo...the list goes on

U right, RYM is great as is for what it is, its just not a site u can engage with on the community level like letterboxd, at least has never been that for me...but in terms of discovering s*** to listen to its second to none
I tried musicboard, but it didnt have that enthusiast userbase that an rym or letterboxd has...im not visiting these sites to hear what people think of super popular stuff. Letterboxd is great because i can deep dive on like a niche genre/international film scene and find so much to watch. Same thing with RYM being able to type some random niche genre into the search and instantly find 100 + albums. But ive never really found particular reviewers i connect with and follow on RYM like i have with LB and ive been on RYM a lot longer.
