The memories of 1 and 2 blend together for me but the music was also damn near life changing
2 has yoshi and a fast pace
We got a few worlds into this opus during the pandemic but it's just too stressful with the constant crying
Never played any of those games def never will
My high school years (09-13) was kinda the zenith of CoD's rise to sales supremacy (and the era many consider the series best string of games) and me and my buds would go on there most nights for hours and have so much goddamn fun. Even if the games were infuriating at times, we could put on our tryhard pants or all go with one meme loadout, etc. I haven't played Cod since 2013 and never will again, but that s*** was so much fun, just cause of all the friends I played with and all the fun and dumb moments. Funny enough, most of the people I played with from high school I don't talk to anymore.

My high school years were spent playing video games with buddies that were actually sitting beside me on a couch and we'd kick the s*** out of each other in between matches of whatever game we were playing and I'm still in constant contact with several of them.
I remember when Halo 3 came out and everybody was pumped on the online gaming and I tried it out once or twice and it felt horrendous to me so I've never attempted any online gaming ever again. Kids these days are missing out on the crucial social aspect of actually having a physical visit with somebody when you game with them.

It wasn't until after high school that I went to the IRL format with a few friends and playing fighting games and dumb party games. I think the gaming zeitgeist of the early 2010s (especially for kids my age) was centered around CoD, and that was reflected by almost literally everybody in my age range getting CoD every year and we all had our friends group we played with.
Mario Kart Double Dash, Tony Hawk and Halo were the biggest couch co op games for us
when everyone at school was talking about CoD

You guys had a new COD every year meanwhile we played Goldeneye basically all the way through high school
with Halo coming in toward the end
Oh and Tekken and that kinda s*** but never really got heavy in fighting games tbh

Me neither except some mortal kombat on my gameboy when I was a kid and that N64 one with saberwulf
when everyone at school was talking about CoD
guilty
we were all such f***in nerds about it too, lookin back
things from the game entered the collective vernacular of everyone. Still remember when 'care?' was a thing and people started saying 'care package' instead
.

I had a lot of buddies that played those games but I was just zooming around on Yoshi

They're fun enough when you're all noobs at it but then there was always that one kid that f***ing mastered it and would just annihilate everyone ruining the fun
It's not like Mario Kart where anyone can just pick it up and play it

yeah it was nice to have 2 brothers to game alongside, i never got into online gaming as much except for one game as i got older
playing the classic ps1 games with my older brother when i was a tiny lad
and playing pokemon with my younger brother when he was like 5-10 and i was 10-15. he played the games like a dumbass but it was fun to help him playing single player just sitting next to each other

The first two mariokarts had a bit of a learning curve for noobs and less cheap items which kept things more competitive. you played a lot of Double Dash but even by then the items were starting to break it for me.

My sister and I played one thousand hours of mariokart together
I grew up on classic Crash and Spyro PS1 games. I'd argue peer pressure corrupted my brain into the CoD hivemind.
My sister and I played one thousand hours of mariokart together
also spent insane amount of hours playing Civilization 4 with my brother which also gave me my first good initial classical music digestion hearing the soundtrack over and over full of canonical pieces from different eras
