The presence in some capacity of both Syd Barrett and David Gilmour makes it feel distinct. It’s like an interesting intersection between all of their styles from the earlier psych pop to the space rock and progy elements they’d later be known for while also feeling way more confident and consistent than Piper.

Pretty sure Rasie prefers Piper. I used t prefer Saucer but Piper has quickly jumped up my 60s ladder.

Surprised Present Tense is so low
still the pinnacle of that type of baroque pop psychedelia that you love (for me). Heard this one yet? One of the top ten psych albums for me. Not a random generic sound like you said, Gary Usher was Brian Wilson's childhood friend and early co-songwriter and he teamed up with Curt Boettcher (producer of a handful of the best late 60s albums by the Byrds etc) to create a studio project they called Sagittarius. Did a tremendous job following Brians footsteps for baroque studio experimentation and even partially did what Smile was supposed to do in 1967.
