I love all of them but honestly 3 is one of the weaker ones for me. The 3D gimmick is kind of distracting. It has some of the creepier moments with Jason but I think 2 has a much better cast of characters and I really do dig that bag head look. 4 and 5 are the ones I go back to the most. They’re just blood and b**** every other scene. They feel like encapsulations of what the series is going for. 3 always came off like an awkward transition to me. Still it’s fun.

You know they were originally gonna have him rape the girl in that flashback scene.

i mean yeah lowkey that’s what i always thought they were insinuating with those scenes and the way she KEPT REFERENCING it, it was obviously bigger than what they showed. they should’ve kept it, not like it would’ve made the movie much more explicit or anything

yeah i hear you, and i should’ve known 3 would be too easy of a top pick for you honestly the moments that were clearly filmed for 3D either cracked me up (chick getting hit in the eye with the arrow) or I just didn’t rly mind em. And yeah bag head Jason was scary af in part 2, but here’s my take on part 2

It’s too short bro. The film doesn’t actually stop with the flashbacks and get started until 25 minutes in, leaving an HOUR for the movie. i’m not gon sit here and act like it isn’t one of the best hours in the franchise, but it could’ve been SO MUCH MORE with like 20 more minutes on top.

The producers wanted to turn Jason into a marketing anti hero in a way. They felt that would be going too far and alienate the audience by making Jason too unlikable. It’s sort of the same reason the producers of the Nightmare movies tried to distance Freddy from his child molester origin.

The first one, The Final Chapter and Jason Takes Manhattan are the one I have the best memories of but it's been a while since I've watched the whole series

I just rewatched 3, and they keep the flashbacks in the first 6 minutes and immediately after get into the new story and introducing the characters leaving an hour and 25 minutes for this one to develop, which is just the perfect runtime for most slashers imo.

Part 2 being an actual hour long just does not sit right with me

Jason Lives is the most overrated one. Still fun but I don’t get why everyone has that near the top of their rankings. It’s too self aware. All the kills are basically gags, it has none of the sexuality of the previous movies, and it’s zombie Jason without Kane Hodder playing him yet. That movie is so smug and detached. The director really thought he was above the material.

Yeah The Final Chapter is probably my 2nd place after the original might as well put that one on rn

I showed my buddies teenage nephew 4 and 5 recently and he had a blast. Watching those again through the eyes of a 13 year old is wild lol.
