Nah they were antisocial hideout years for me (after being super social in high school). Just basking in the dust till I was like 21 and broke out of my shell again

I grew up in Brooklyn (and later Queens) so I was surrounded by rap everywhere but I always gravitated more towards riffs and loud noises. DMX and Biggie and the Beasties and s*** were cool but when I heard stuff like NIN and the Pumpkins it was just a total click

Didn't hear rap till I moved off the farm right before high school so it was even more wild to me than it was to the suburban kids Metallica and Sabbath clicked immediately a few years into high school but it wasn't till White Stripes came along at got me really interested in rock. Probably just cause I was actually making enough to afford magazines and books to research which CDs to buy finally

I still just had to listen to my parents music at ten (which was usually fine). Big Willy Style and Puff Daddy & The Family wasn't till a few years later.

Sure, but a lot of other dudes tried to emulate 2Pac and just suck ass and failed. Eminem actually has heart and originality.

Rage and System never really resonated with me but I do dig early Korn.
