I went through a rock n roll phase months ago. Went through Jerry, Buddy, Richard, Everlys, etc. Jerry really was a wild dude, I might like him more than Fats
You like that better than The Great 28?
yeah cuz it just has more songs, Great 28 misses out on a few of the highlights. chess box has a few lame ones though but whatever
i also have the muddy waters chess box but havent digested the whole thing nearly as much

I got The Great 28, Elvis At Sun, Buddy Holly Collection, Best of Fats, Bo, Everlys, Jerry, Richard all in 2003-4
they're all so deep in my DNA now I can't really rank one above the other anymore because they all have such different strengths and auras I just love them so much

I went through a big rockabilly/Elvis phase around 2002-2003. I even visited Sun Studios when I drove through Memphis with my mom on our way to visit my aunt in Texas. I love the vibe of that music.

the one year everybody was on fire. Buddy showed up and Elvis wasnt in the army yet. dont think this was topped until '66 maybe '65

jealous. how old were you? i was basically the same age as Elvis when i got the Sun Sessions and it was pretty staggering once acclimated to such dusty dust. made me appreciate how much better everything was recorded after 1954 lol.
definitely plan on doing a Memphis/Nashville/New Orleans road trip one day.
I probably should have voted for a Nina Simone album
Wild is the Wind is great. Pastel Blues is meh but the last 2 songs are worth the vote
Got into Ricky Nelson a little later but I love him just as much now
He’s definitely in the top 10 rock n rollers

honestly i should've bit the bullet and got all the big fancy compilation for those guys when i started that thread instead of pirating tons of iffy s*** like i did

I was 12. I literally drove through this en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tornado_outbreak_sequence_of_May_2003
scary as s***
What remember best from Sun Studios was all the old school padding and carpeting and how small it was, even as a kid. It's such a time capsule and you feel embedded in that sound and time.
Let me know when you're planning to go to New Orleans and we'll kick it, that city has been on my bucket list for the longest. I've been to Memphis twice but not at an age when I could really enjoy the nightlife.

Somewhere in the middle for the 2000s

and one of the most hilarious cases of nepotism in Hollywood
was raised on a Full House type of tv show in front of America... was on a date as a teenager with a chick that wouldn't shut up about this new "rock and roll" singer named Elvis... lied and told her he also had a rock band and single coming out.... rushed home and got his rich producer dad to put a band together for him... covered a Fats Domino banger and got a hit... put together his own scorching band and actually honed his craft and quickly earned respect from everyone
ironically Elvis ended up stealing his guitarist later in the 60s because he was amazing (James Burton)
