Elricjust read Sly wanted to be in the actual band when he was producing the first couple Beau Brumels albums but one of their dads wouldn't allow it

Sir Douglas Quintet might've been the first biracial band but they weren't near as huge as The Family Stone and didnt have women either. Sly tore down all racial/genre/gender barriers.

Sly writing songs with an established rock band would’ve been different though. More genre fusion that the family Stone which leans more funk.
