NoirFor sure. I have really weird opinions on what the best Pink Floyd songs are though. For one thing, Rick Wright's songs are always up there for me.

Elriclmao yeah i made post recently about how amazing this song is even though the drummer seems like he was trying to deliberately sabotage the recording with his bullshit

Interested what @Aruji thought of it. Most of the criticism I've seen was it veering too far from the book. I never read it so I can't say but the film itself was f***ing nuts.
I wanna rewatch The Thin Red Line now.
didn't watch it yet but I'll get around to it when I do my 2022 and 21 viewings (couldn't watch many movies past couple years). I really like the original so Idk what to expect. I'll let you know tho

Have you seen 1917? AQOTWF was really good but I thought the filmmaking in 1917 was even more impressive even if overall it isn't as unrelentingly bleak.

I'm not used to seeing so much Ummagumma love in one place
I think of it as their horror album (the studio album). Calm but very austere and full of suspense with a few shocks sprinkled throughout and just in general very unsettling.
The most common criticism is that it's very pretentious and I'd agree but I think that their intuitive background as a rock group more than often clashes with their pretension making it quite intriguing for me to listen.
Something like The Narrow Way hits harder for me than Echoes due to the sheer atmosphere it builds via soundpainting. Later Floyd just has that sterile quality that makes it a bit difficult for me to enjoy at this point.
Also, this album basically revamped their career. Many ideas that would later be defining traits of their sound appear here for the first time.

i feel like this was the moment they found their $$ sound for the 70s. Always thought it was Rogers but just read that it was the last song entirely written and composed by Gilmour until 1987
he should get more credit for helping find their classic sound

FellaEclipse gotta be the best Pink Floyd song
its great but thats like saying The End is the best Beatles song since it just feels like a dramatic album closer. id take Breathe, Time, Us & Them and Brain Damage over it probably.

every critic writes about how impressive the industrial portions of the song are but I think the real emotional peak for me is when that melancholic acoustic guitar plays against that tension.
